Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited both the lower and upper lakes areas. I loved both, so visit both if you can. If I had to compare, I'd say the upper lakes had a larger variety of and more waterfalls (lower really only had the one big one). But the lower ones are definitely worth seeing as well. We started our visit at entrance 1 and the lower lakes, then took the boat across Kozjak to the upper lakes, where we walked around and near them all the way up to the top. Definitely a wonderful day and a highlight of Croatia (and Europe!)

Group of several lakes connected by water streams going through the forest making lovely cascades and waterfalls.

Most tourist seemed to walk passed this one. The waterfall is spread out and huge. The water roaring down to the pool below. Well worth just stopping to taking in the view.

All Plitvice is beautiful.
As one of the reviewers wrote before, there are other lakes, forests and parks in Europe not less stunning, of course, but in Croatia this is an outstanding place to visit and not to be missed.
Definitely one of the Top 3 or Top 5 there.
This part of the park is less visited and therefore preferable when the park is overcrowded, as it often happens.
This wasn't the case for us as in September the weather was close to awful, meaning it was raining, the whole day.
Some might like that, we didn't, so if you're like us, choose your visiting day according to the weather...if you can of course.

wonderful cascades, but we advice to arrive by the lower lake and to start very early in the morining to really enjoy it. After the trail was full of people all along the day

Home to more waterfalls and lakes than The Lower Lakes, perhaps the best part about The Upper Lakes is that it offers (some) opportunities to get away from the masses. (The Lower Lakes boasts the biggest falls in the park, so maybe that's why it's more crowded in that area?). Anyway, I prefer the Upper Lakes part b/c there are places to have a quiet picnic (yes, even midday on a weekend--in autumn, mind you, but still), and there are hiking trails off the main trails (so, away from the falls, but also away from the herds).

Best accessed by Gate 2, but you can also enter the park at Gate 1 and hop on the long ferry, which is a nice ride across Kozjak Lake.

We rushed the walk, boat, however it was worth every minute. Beautiful colours. The walk way is wooden slats, uneven at times. Allow plenty of time, we had a guide that knew the area so well. Photos were amazing.

Part of the Plitvice Lake experience. I would recommend taking the time to spent an entire day here so you can enjoy the upper as well as the lowwer lakes and eall in between.

Many people on the path and we were there end of season. I can imagine a much more crowded walk during busier times. In those times you would have to wait to get into better view areas.

The park is very busy and it can feel very crowded but if you bide your time the views of the various falls and lakes are worth every minute. We enjoyed all the walks over the upper and lower lakes using both the boat and “train” services.
