While it may be true that the focus of most is to get to Ag Ioanni (Mama Mia's church), a short stop at Ag Riginos on the way to the other end of the island provides a peaceful alternative. Martyred in the Church's early history,...More

This monastery was a last minute choice of destinations due to the weather. I am so glad I went. It really is a must see. It was easy to get to via a small bus from the port that made multiple daily trips back and...More

This is on the road from Skopelos to Panoramas. I've marked it on the Trip Advisor map - hopefully they will update that soon. It's pretty small and you will probably only be there for 5-10mins - however, it's well worth a visit for a...More

St Riginos became a martyr of Christianity in 375 AD. He was decapitalized by the pagan Emperor Julian. One should read the inscription on top of the door to understand how old this church is. This is obvious from the columns that still stand there...More

Lovely monastery and warm welcome from the lady who looks after it. Saint Riginos is known for his healing which is evident when you look in the Church. The lady told us that all the monks died and there have been no monks there for...More

It has everything a monastery should have in Greece: situated in luscious green, a perfectly sought after courtyard and garden, greatly renovated church and steeple, nice sights and enough calm and solemnity in order to say a few prayers and to focus on your thoughts...More

We decided to ditch the map and to just drive about the island..... great idea as we eventually ended up here! Such a lovely neat yet beautiful place! Spent a while just admiring the views and taking photos.

This monastery is worth the visit to see its beauty up close. Located above the road into Skopelos town, most visitors take a photo from below and drive on. Access is easy up a good road. Make the effort and you will not be disappointed.
