This is a beauiful cave with a church built into the cave in memory of many Cretans killed by Turkish invaders in the 1800's. The setting is in a pretty gorge with dragon arums, crag martins, griffon vultures and blue rock thrushes. Fab by.

We walked 4km from our base in Milatos to the cave. The safety railings were adequate but were a little flimsy at times. The cave was only really interesting if you read up on the history behind it beforehand, but it was after all a...More

Nice sightseeing. There is a little walk to the caves by the rocky path. The Caves it itself are huge but you can see only a small part of those. There is no light so take a flashlight with you. There is no services and...More

A nice trip to make, worth the climb up, (I wouldn't advise flipflops!). Interesting history to the cave.

We really enjoyed this cave. It was very easy to find, with free parking right at the start of the path. It's a 15 minute amble to the cave. Entrance is free, which is probably why the lights aren't working. I brought two flashlights but...More

Thank goodness this cave complex is on Crete: it would be hemmed in with red tape here. You walk along a path with a little wooden fence between you and a sheer drop, to a low-roofed, dark cave. The guide book says "take a torch",...More

Free entrance, free parking, but no facilities on site. It is about a 10-15 min climb to the cave (pebble path). Inside the cave a flashlight is recommended. Beautiful views (you also see kri-kri mountain goats if you are lucky) and a beautiful cave with...More
