We booked a "wine and food experience" for 50€/person with a duration of 3.5hours. This was our last (of a long list) during our holiday stay. For 50€, I expected thus a good meal with good wines as this was the highest price we paid for this kind of activity and have had some superb other experiences. The tour through the cellar was interesting but average. The meal was basic but tasty. It was prepared in a restaurant 8km away and then transported to the wine house. The dishes were all (intended) cold dishes. But they served the dishes extremely fast, so I felt as a goose eating. We booked it as afternoon activity (from 12h15 + 3.5h) but were out before 14h. They have several different Barolo wines. But they offered us none of their Barolo's even we were charged 50€/person. The other wines were good but it's not difficult to find (much) better in this area for same price. I felled ripped of paying 50€ for this 1.5hour medium quality wine and cold food experience.

This was a wine tasting with lunch. The wine tasting process was ok as they were described very well and the wine is lovely. However ... The quantities for the tasting and lunch were below par. The food was horrific and even though we don’t eat raw meat and that is the local food the rest was minimal and not appealing to the 4 of us. Went away hungry and had to go to a local restaurant to eat something. In comparison to other wine tastings we have done this was the worst and don’t recommend. If you have low expectations than this is for you otherwise skip it.

We warmly greeted by Marco on our first visit to the Piedmont region. We started the tour with a nice espresso as it was a little bit of a journey on our drive that August morning. We viewed the vines and a couple ‘castles’ that were points of reference. We then discussed the requirements of Barolo under the DOCG guidelines, which were more strict than we thought. We then toured the wine making areas, which having been on more than one tour in Napa, we are familiar with the process;, however, the other half of our group were ‘newbies’. There were a few interesting areas including the aging areas and the labeling process. After a thorough look in these areas, we began our tasting. The outdoor setting has a lovely view and even though it was warm outside, the breeze and shade made it perfect. The tasting began with a sparkling white and ended with a lovely grappa. There were 6 other wines tasted in between, with the highlight being the Barolo. We went at our own pace and a nice description was given before each pour as well as if you wanted a little more to make sure you liked it, they easily obliged. I will not get too specific on the price list, but they could easily charge literally 5-10x and still have the cost be a fair number. They do ship back to the U.S. as well as offer online sales; however, don’t take Chassie K’s word for it and head to Josetta Saffirio for try the king of Italian ones on your own.

We recently went for a cheese and truffle hunting tour here. The guide Marco, really very informative, and answered all our queries. He explained the winery from beginning to end, in great detail and acuity. Truffle hunting was done with Luca and his dog, Willie, very well trained and quick. While searching for the truffles Luca explained how the dog is trained from birth to search for the priceless truffle. He releases Willie on his own and eventually he found one, Luca pulls to out, smells it, hands to Marco, and it is still early in the season, but highly aromatic. Willie soon finds another one. It was a great experience and one that you should not miss. Going back to the winery, we are shown the machinery, barrels, cement barrels, labeling, packaging and the works. Each step is well depicted and succinct. At the end we have a wine and cheese tasting of their famous barolo wine. I still favoured the Moscato d'art, very smooth, light and pleasing to the mouth matched along with the cheese. The Nebbiolo Alba brut rose, also smooth. The Barolo was not my fav. Marco was great, and so was Luca and of course Willie, the truffle hunting dog. Excellent day out in the vineyards.
