Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Part of a family group of six, we booked two double and two single buggies. After arriving and a good safety briefing we were off hurling our buggies around a series of pre cut dirt tracks. We started on the “dry” tracks following our guide and getting faster and faster as our confidence grew. After half an hour (and huge grins on everyone’s faces) we switched to the “mud” tracks. By now everyone was screaming in delight as buggies slid and skidded through mud and water leaving us all covered head to toe in mud (thankfully raro buggies provide goggles and a hose down station!). We finished with a visit to the waterfall and a much needed swim. Thanks to the Raro Buggy team - the guys had a great sense of humour and really helped make the experience one of the highlights of our stay in Rarotonga.

Whether your looking for a fun way to celebrate an occasion or just looking for a lil adventure on the Island then this is the thing to do. Recommend you wear reef shoes and old clothing to benefit as much of the mud as possible. A rinse in the ocean and a Milkshake or Smoothie to top it off...this is a must! Will come back again when we return to the island next time.

Such a good day out what a thrill! The mud it is so hard to explain just how much there is. The thrill of going down the hill to end up through a large puddle is insane your whole body covered! I still a week later have mud in my ears. Highly recommend taking clothes you can throw out afterwards. The swim at the end was perfect. The staff are great so friendly and it was good to hear about the Sheraton hotels past. Don’t look past this on your visit. Also have to mention the awesome milkshake at the end.

Be prepared to get muddy because this is all about fun in the mud, in fact the muddier the better. Two types of buggies to drive, automatic so no hassle changing gears. A real adrenaline rush. Just remember to keep your mouth closed.

10/10 Would recommend!!!!
Absolutely amazing and most thrilling activity my family got to go on our whole trip. The instructor made the trip much more memorable and made us all comfortable as my baby niece and I could not go on the ride we were included in everything and even given the best spot to watch our family get dirty.
After the buggy’s, you hear the best story about Rarotongas past and also get to go to a n amazing man made waterfall to wash off

What an awesome afternoon we had. If you looking to do something different and don’t mind getting dirty then this is a must. My 15 year old had the time of his life. I wore all black and just washed my clothes after. Wore my reef shoes which was a great idea. They took us for a swim after to clean up as much as possible and then treated us to a smoothy or milkshake of our choice. The guide was awesome and they made it so much fun. I definitely recommend this as one of the activities to do when visiting Raro. There was even a very old couple who did this with us and they had such a good time.

Better than what I expected. Such a great family activity, we had lots of fun. The boys there were very friendly and helpful, they even cater to shorter drivers haha. Be sure to wear old clothes, and save your sun glasses. It's a lot better to wear the goggles available. Would love to go again 10/10

We had the best time today at Raro Buggy Tours! Fully worth the money. The main Guide, forgive me butchering name, Ale, was just awesome. Funny, informative, and encouraging to Aunty 🤣. The crew were great! Laughing and sorting out any issues. Seriously thought I was clever wearing a plastic poncho..and sunnies…don’t bother the mud finds a way. Finished off with delicious Milkshake or Smoothie. Meitaki crew!!

What an awesome experience! My partner and I went to the buggy’s yesterday and had the absolute best time. Never seen my partners inner child come out until being on that mud buggy. He really took advantage of the puddles lol. The guides were amazing and took us to a beautiful waterfall afterwards.
Thanks team! Will be coming again 😊

Can you wear light easy to wash shoes EG handles or crocs? Or do we have to wear covered sneakers type shoes?

I see the lower age limit is 4 years old, but from what I can read i wonder if we should put off going with our 4 and 5 year olds? Thoughts?

Hi,
We have booked to do a shared buggy in March!
I see that there is advice on what to bring with you in terms of towels etc, however there's nothing to indicate that happens to these items when you are on the tour. Does a separate vehicle (or lock-up building) have the bags so that you can get these at the end or when they are required on the tour? (I presume that bags are not carried on your personal buggy due to the amount of mud/water you encounter.)

Goggles would have been awesome! And as above they look after your keys, wallets etc. just leave your towels in the car. And have fun!

Ive seen quiet a lot of reviews saying this tour is unsafe as breaks and buggies are deadly and unreliable and always breaking down, is this still the case or have safety precautions been improved?
Written 2 October 2019
People's reviews are probably right but we took the risk anyway and had the time of our lives. Yes our buggy stopped but there were people on hand to get it going again and another lot changed their buggy. What made it more fun (and probably less safe) was that it rained whilst we were there. I'm in my 60's, too old to be worried about the what ifs. Up to you whether you want to take the risk.

Hi, we’re coming to Raro this September. My son asks how much horse power the buggies have :) ?
Written 20 May 2018
don't expect them to be powerful because they aren't, been geared differently. feel really gutless. however it's for our own good really you drive them on the road before and after the tracks. they do the job all good once your in the tracks.

We went at the end of March 2018. No new buggies we’re there then. I went to put seatbelt on but was told not necessary. Tbh it probably didn’t work anyway! There wasn’t much need for a seatbelt though throughout the tour.

What does it mean by $125.00 single
And
$150 driver with passenger?
Single 125 Are you paying to drive a buggy yourself?
$150 are you the driver and take a passenger?
E.g would I pay $300 for my partner to be a driver and I'm a passenger ? Or would we pay the str8 $150 for both of us?
Written 6 December 2017
Hi. Yes it is $150 per buggy including 2 persons or $125 if only a single person in the buggy.
Lunch is provided. Recoment to wear clothing and footwear that you dont mind getting extreemly muddy.
You can swap over driver / passenger during the trip.
Have a great trip, we did.
