Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very busy station as all the highway buses stop here. The local buses to the northern and eastern sides of Lake Kawaguchiko also start from here. Buses to Oshino Hakkai is at bus stop No. 6 and the timetable is readily available at the tourist information. Buses to Fuji Shibazakura festival is at bus stop No. 7 and same day combined bus tickets and entrance fee can readily be bought from a kiosk just next to bus stop 7. There are toilet facilities, gift shops here. There is a ticket office selling bus and train tickets here too. The train tracks are behind this station. There is also a taxi stand just next to tourist information. It is best to buy the return bus tickets to Tokyo online as we saw that all tickets back to Tokyo were sold out on 19 April. We bought our tickets to Mt Fuji starting from Akihabara station one month before travel date from Japan Bus Online. There is only one bus time starting from Akihabara at 7:20. We stayed near Okachimachi Station and so it is more convenient to take this bus. However on our return trip, we took the bus to Tokyo station as there are many more timings. The trip costs about 2200 Yen each way. We left by the 16:00 bus and do expect some delays due to traffic jams. There are many cafes and restaurants near to the station including the famous Lawson with the view of Mt Fuji at the back.

It's the terminal station of Fujikyu. In front of the station building is the arrival and departure terminal for express buses from each city. It is composed of about 80% of inbound foreigners inside and outside the station. Fuji Dawn behind the station

Kawaguchiko Station is the starting point of almost all the attractions and landmarks of Kawaguchiko. There are nearby convenience stores where you could eat or have a coffee while waiting for your tour bus. Also, there are souvenir shops and restaurants in this station.

Gets crowded. Staff are all very friendly and attentive. Was just standing at one of the boarding points trying to make sense of the sign board when the staff came up to me to check whether I had the right ticket. Surprisingly, most of the staff speak very good English too!

Our main bus from Mishima after we got off of JR train brought us here. This was a 10 min walk to our Airbnb. We came back next day to catch sightseeing buses which depart from here to take you to all areas around Mt Fuji. It is a tourist information area so lots of helpers who can speak English and give you advice and assistance. Toilets, shop selling food and souvenirs at the station. We departed here on a train to head to Otsuki to change trains to head to our whisky tour. The views of Fuji from the station were amazing.

You can take the Highway Bus, Local Sightseeing Bus and the Train at Kawaguchiko Sation. In the station, there has the bus ticketing counter which you can purchase or even redeem the highway bus ticket, 2 days pass Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus @ 1,200 yen per pax (Red & Green Line), very helpful travel information counter which you can take any brochure from there, souvenir store and also a cafe for you to buy any drinks while you waiting for the bus/ train.
Besides that, you can put your luggage or shopping bag in the locker at the station. There is two locker area, 1 is beside the toilet (indoor locker room) and another 1 is the outdoor area which is just beside it. Do not worry as you can put the smallest size to the biggest size luggage in the locker. Big locker @ 600 yen per time and the small locker @ 300 yen. However, please take note that there are limited big locker in the station (properly just 6 to 10 only) if you planning to put your luggage at the station. Otherwise, you may check with the concierge counter and they might be able to help you to keep the luggage at the train station staff counter there and it will be charge by per piece of your luggage.
Nearby of the station, there are 7-11 and another local convenience store which you can buy some snacks from there as well.

Mt. Fuji (a.k.a.Fujisan) has long been the most admired sacred mountain in Japan and around the world. Everyday there are tons of tourists making their ways here by organized tour buses, public trains or highway buses. The Fujikyu Railways operate the Fujisan's train lines, connecting JR train lines from Tokyo and greater areas at Otsuki Station. Although it's a small station, with limited waiting area and few seating spaces, tourists who depend on public or private transportation must come through this station to visit Mt. Fuji's and Five Lakes' attractions.
During the peak tourist seasons long line waiting at Otsuki Station to connect Fujikyu Line is expected. There are three types of train offered from Otsuki:l Local, Rapid or Fujisan View Express. You will find trains' timetables and fares displayed at Otsuki. Staff at both stations speak English and are very helpful; they will guide you on the ticket purchase-either buying from ticket counter or using self-help machines. Tourist information Office is located outside Kawaguchiko station after you exit and turn right. There is also a booth to sell Kawaguchiko's Sightseeing Loop Bus Passes. The Loop Bus waiting area is just outside of the Station. Other long distance buses' stops are marked by numbers in the large parking lot area in front of the Station. So, says it's a small station, yet it's serving multiple connections and offering very helpful and detailed tourist sightseeing information. It's often crowded inside the station. So, check online time schedule for the trains and buses would save your waiting time in the station. You can see Mt. Fuji from the Station, but not an ideal place to take photos of it since there are obstructed views with building structures and utility lines. Snack shops and toilet facility are available inside the station. There are grocery stores, eateries, cafe bars, fast food snack shops and souvenir shops lined along the main street in front of the station.

We expect to arrive from gotemba station around 7-8pm. Will dinner still be available within walking distance from the station? The hotel we are staying (which is also very near kawaguchiko station) does not provide meals.
Thank you

There will be several restaurants still open at that time. Go west from the station and then turn left (south) on road 707. There are a couple of restaurants on the corner.
