We hiked with Kassim through the picturesque hilly landscape around Lushoto on a beautiful, sunny day. It was very informative, entertaining and a great experience overall. Highlight was a break at Irente Viewpoint with a great view of the lowlands to the west of Lushoto. Kassim introduced us to people, game (countless chameleons!) and flora around Lushoto. We would book with Eco Tours again at any time and especially hike with Kassim. A clear recommendation to fill a day in Lushoto with a great, varied program!

We spent three days in the Usambara mountains hiking, organized by Shambaa Eco Tours in Lushoto. They were very flexible in possible options. We had a great hike through the villages in these beautiful hills. Our guide was Kazim it and all was very well organized. We believe we were lucky with Kazim as our guide. He saw countless chameleons, was very friendly and he was a great resource on the environment and the lovely people living here.

We went to Magamba Rain Forest with Charles. Charles was a wonderful guide. He was brilliant at spotting chameleons, he was super friendly, he informed us very well about the program, he knew a lot about the rain forest and was also happy to answer all the other questions we asked him, don't matter how unrelated to the rainforest they were and he was also okay with telling us if he didn't know something instead of just telling us something that is not true. And he also speaks perfect French! We really enjoyed our hike through the wonderful rainforest up to the viewpoint on top! We can highly recommend doing a hike with Charles!! Asante sana!

We booked a half day trip to Irente viewpoint and it was really amazing! Charles, our guide, told us so many interesting things along the way through the villages and the pittoresque mountains. The view from the viewpoint is really impressive and so is the lunch at the Farm lodge up there. Great day!

The six-hour hike through the mountainous countryside around Lushoto with Shambaa Eco Tours was probably the best tour we experienced during a two-week stay in Tanzania. In particular, our guide Charles was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna and culture. On discovering we had a specific passion for chameleons, he went out of his way to spot several during our hike.

It helped that the setting was so stunning: a dense forest reserve, breathtaking viewpoints, a cave full of bats, idyllic plantations of banana, eucalyptus and pine. The 'farmers lunch' was also some of the best food we tasted, especially the local fruits.

These guys are a new tour company, with 2023 being their first 'real' season due to the pandemic. If you find yourself in Lushoto, definitely seek them out by The Lawns Hotel, just outside downtown Lushoto.

We enjoyed the fullday hike with Charles a lot. He told us about plants, trees and local life. We went to Magambe rainforest, enjoyed the wonderful view and went further to Irente Farm for lunch and the Irente Viewpoint. Thank you, Charles!

Nice tour (combined tour forest and Irente), and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the tour didn't include all that was mentioned in the description; there was no visit to the local brewery, and the "learning abour the German cave" part was barely more than a mention.. We asked the guide about it, but he said it wasn't a part of the tour..

We did 2 half day trips with them, one to the irente farm and the other in the national park. Our guides Charles and Kazim learned us a lot about the history, people, flora and fauna of the Lushoto region. They are very knowledgeable and interesting guides. And you need them to spot the magnificent chameleons, they’re hard to spot for the untrained eye! The lunches on both days were also very nice, picknick with a view!
