Although the tide only comes in twice a year here it is still beautiful looking over the silted up estuary towards North Wales. A meal at the Ship and an ice-cream at Nichols are musts . If you've got time walk all the way to...More

Visited this place on and off for 50+ years and never fail to enjoy its special tranquility and lack of overt commercialism. For the uninitiated Parkgate was a small port on the River Dee in ancient times, but as the River Dee has silted up,...More

This is an idyllic place to visit and indeed to live. The front has ever changing views of the Welsh hills and the amenities are up to date and varied.

The "seafront" is a marsh that constantly smells of everything that is lurking around this massive cesspit. On your normal day you get a view of Wales. They recently cut some of the mess so you could walk near the wall. This is of no...More

There is no longer any sea at Parkgate, unless there is a high Spring Tide! There is a lovely walk from one end of the village to the other end past a lovely Ice Cream Shop.

There is more to park gate than just awesome ice cream and scrumptious chips. There are plenty of miles to be walked and explored along the coast.

A perfect seaside town, but the sea is now miles away. There are some lovely walks around here. Some good pubs and restaurants and beautiful icecream

Just a beautiful place. We went for the wildlife and it certainly didnt disappoint. The seafront is full of character and the ice cream shops are sublime. I would highly recommend this little gem.

A long unspoilt promenade along the marshes makes an very pleasant place to walk. Look out for birds and wildlife. It has the added bonus of seeing Wales across the estuary

We went by car and were not aware of there being a rail station at Parkgate. Check with rail company online. Bound to be one nearby.

I think if you get off at Neston (or Heswall) the 22 goes via Parkgate. If you have a look on the Merseytravel website you should be able to get the info there about the route operated by Avon. Hope you enjoy Parkgate... More
