River Valley is an adventure company that operates from River Valley Lodge, an Adventure Lodge situated 32 kilometers east of the central North Island town of Taihape. What is River Valley all about? River Valley is all about rafts and horses. In fact 3 generations (since 1982)of guides have brought adventures based around river rafting and horse back riding to the general public. Rafting ranges in duration from half day Grade 5 trips on the Rangitikei River - often called one of the world's top half day Grade 5 trips - to gentle floats in the midst of spectacular scenery on our Scenic rafting trips. Horse Trekking. The core of the River Valley Stables riding experience is the natural horse training techniques used to train our horses. This produces horses that are responsive and happy. All riding takes place over the beautiful hill country of this area - the northern Rangitikei.

This was a great place- very rural (and quite the drive!) but really different as a result of being so off the beaten path. The rafting and horseback riding were both great, and Derek and Jess were both very kind and accommodating to special needs...More

The best rafting I ever did, it was definitely worth it! (The money and te bus drive to the hostel). The accommodation feels very home, especially without the cellphone connection!

Went white water rafting here earlier in Jan 2017. All the staff were kind welcoming and competent. The experience lasted about 3 hours. In our team of four, three we're doing it for the first time. This was not a problem as training was given...More

Fantastic trip down a stunning and challenging river. The guides make this trip possible and what it is. I have rafted several dozen rivers and have never seen guiding as competent and thorough as is carried out here. We traveled with a group of friends...More
