It's the very end of the Shiratani 4-hour return hike, marker 16 on the map. And it will not be easy to get up there, but it's worth it for that view and sense of accomplishment when you finally make it to the top. Just...More

After a couple hours of hiking through the thick Genserin Shiratani rainforest, it is both magical and surreal to finally emerge from all the foliage to behold such a view. WOW. It was incredibly windy which made it even more majestic. We were there on...More

The view is impressive and the walk up and down covers the most natural and beautiful terrain. Be sure to take the slightly longer path of the loop, either up or down.

We climbed up to Taikoiwa early morning and luckily the weather was very nice and we had a great view. As there was nobody else, we had a second breakfast to re-energise ourselves for a big walk (we were walking to Jomonsugi from Shiratani Unsuikyo)....More

Great view and easy hike since it was mostly flat except the last 10 minutes to reach the top. It was definitely worth it!

The climb up to this rock was a bit more challenging compared to the rest of the Shiratani hike. We hiked up in December, perfect weather and timing as there were hardly anyone else around and me and my husband could enjoy the rock to...More

The view from the top was definitely worth the hike, which becomes more difficult right before the rock. Many people tend to go to the top and sit there. Although eating on the rock is not allowed, many people will still sit around for a...More
