This is our last stop of our Kumano Kodo hike. Unfortunately, several shrines are being renovated now. It's still worth to see. You can still enter some of them but we could not take good pictures of the outside. This is a very popular site....More

What an unopportunity! It's under renovation so the front of shrine was covered with canvas and scaffolding but There is a small path to let I see part of this grand shrine. Nearby Seigantoji temple is also renovated but it's allowed tourist to get inside.

The cost to ascend the tower is 300 yen per adult. I almost chose not to do it, but my girlfriend convinced me. It was one of the best decisions we've made on this trip! The view on a clear spring day is incomparable -...More

This was the 3rd of the three Kumano Grand Shrines on our Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage walk & visit. Definitely the busiest of the three. Walk up the Daimon-zaka steps if able. Otherwise the bus will drop you near the top. Plenty of shopping for souvenirs.

I agree with the previous comments. There is a very good JR forum. I suggest you pose a question on that too for any further information.
