Tokyo was freezing in March at 9degrees, so it was a great relief to land in Okiniwa after a 3hr flight to a warm, tropical climate of 20degrees. One of the attractions we visited was the Ocean Expo Park: here is sealife at its most...More

The area is spectacular and there is so much to see that one day is not really even enough for it all. Our children (then 5 and 6) liked the aquarium a lot and loved the playground area.

This is only one of the many attractions at the location. The views alone would make it worthwhile if this where the only thing here. Bring good walking shoes, water and maybe a snack or two.

I definitely recommend coming here if you have a rainy day. My family spent 7 great hours here, and we didn’t even see everything there is to see! We ate lunch at the Aquarium, and also thoroughly enjoyed the botanical gardens.

WOW. The grounds are beautiful and the visitor gets a sense of peace throughout. We went to the aquarium and walked around seeing the different pools of sea life. Everything was kept in spotless conditions. One could easily make an entire day of this place.

Yess, its a direct translation, Ryukyu is the old name for Okinawa and mura standard Japanese for village. Quite interesting to visit (free), note the house of the female priest/shaman.
