Portogruaro lies in the east of northern Italy along the banks of the Lemene River.<br>The city was founded in 1140 when a group of fishermen were granted permission to settle here and build a river port.<br>Until 1866, Portoguaro was part of the Austrian Empire, after which it entered the newly unified Kingdom of Italy and began its development and growth.<br>Portogruaro is a city of art and culture. Next to the Gothic, Venetian and Renaissance palaces, there is always a part of the city of Portogruaro waiting to be explored.
