Worth a visit but a bit tired in parts!
Sep 2021 • Family
Nice little zoo but a bit tired in places! Our toddler loved the meerkats but was upset that the little fairground wasn’t on (apparently only open on weekends!). Didn’t see many animals on this visit but that’s what you get with zoos sometimes I guess! We would revisit however but just some TLC needed in terms of moving rubbish and broken bits and bobs which would improve the general area! Staff friendly and plenty of car parking! Soft play next door however saved the day haha and our toddler spent the whole 1.5 hours loving this!

Pleasant but scope for improvement
Aug 2021 • Family
3 adults 1 child. Staff a pleasant from the off. Quite liked the layout. The glass on nearly all the animal enclosures were very unclean, on quite a few instances it was difficult to see through...no reason for being that dirty. Larger animal enclosures were in the main fine. Nice to see the animals having a bit of decent space to roam around. There is clear investment going into the park which is great however, one can't help feeling its to the detrement of the older section of the park. Childrens play / swing park area is very run down looking and could do with investment. The showpark type facilities were closed and only one stall was open serving hot food. Toilet facilities were run down (portacabin) but served its purpose.

Credit to the park staff, they were very nice and helpful.

At the moment and given the current climate there are signs they are improving all the time.

Lovely Afternoon at the Zoo
Aug 2021 • Family
I was a bit worried about visiting Five Sisters after reading some of the recent reviews. But I can honestly say we all had a lovely afternoon. The main attraction was the animals and they all looked healthy and well cared for. Weather was lovely so that helped. There was a wee bit of litter, plenty of bins so I put that down to other visitors not using them. Only down side was the large queue for food. But having said that food was tasty once we got it. Some areas are a wee bit smelly.......but it is a zoo! Staff really nice. Overall a really nice afternoon out. There are some really interesting educational areas that tell you about the rescued animals too.

Disgusting
Aug 2021 • Family
The whole place is filthy. The toilets were smelly and dirty. Everything looks rundown.

Soft play was good but again disgusting toilets that smelled with flies everywhere.

No airflow in the soft play area so was far too hot.

smashing day out
Aug 2021
Super day out as always. Love seeing the animals and taking photos as you can get pretty close to them. Watched as the Bear Eso was being fed her fruit and veg after the amazing zoo keepers cleaned her sleeping area and took time to answer our questions. Next favorite part of our visit was a funny interaction with Rufio the Red Panda who decided to run and jump from one tree to another almost falling in his haste to show off. food lovely not too expensive though we had already brought some snacks ourselves but teenagers need more food lol. looking forward to the Christmas lights this year. We think that the zoo have done remarkably well considering all the restrictions over the past 18 months. well done everyone and keep up the great work.

Good day out, could be great.
Aug 2021
So your first, and last impression is a ramshackle car park with debris lying around.
Aftrr being closed so long, a clean up job would not have been impossible.
Check in kiosk is dingy and the girl whilst functional, is hardly welcoming
The biggies are the bear, snow lepords and lions. Bear stayed in its house, fine, its an animal, we cant force it out. Lepords, the fence was broken, safety comes first, it happens, so they stsyed in their house. Lioms, on display, lazing around.
The tanks for croc and alligator seem small, but am no animal expert.
Kids ride area, my word the elderly dear in the ticket booth looks like she has lived in that booth all her life, am sure she is lovely and dedicated to her role but its a fast paced customer facing position, you need to match it like for like
Yes cos of covid am sure, but a hands on practical somewhere would add some life to the place, some trainer feeding the lions, or handling the snakes, something to make kids and adults go, wow
Money making missed by the park, why no official park photo opportunity with say, meercst, then view pic before buying on way out?
added bonus of plenty free aggressive wasps
The attractiion is ok, its typical of what we expect in Scotland, its ok, not wow, but could be wow.
as much as you get handed a cheap map, why not install some simple signs pointing where the animals, toilets, catering are?
There does seem to be a lot of plaques self praising the zoo, maybe if they focussed on customers praising them this place would be so much better

So sorry for these poor animals!
Aug 2021 • Family
Well , where to start! Having never been here before I was pretty excited to go with my daughter who by the way is 33 and we both love animals!
Should have known how it was going to go by 1st impressions of the overflow car park. Broken chairs lying about, no idea what that was all about. The entrance is tired and shoddy with a young girl hidden in a dark kiosk taking your booking. Straight into a reptile house which had frogs spiders snakes etc . There was two five foot crocodiles in a tiny exhibit and so the story goes on. Every exhibit in the whole zoo was too small for the animals and they were all full of weeds. The poor two wolves just went round and round a path they had made, a classic example of stressed animals. The same with the bear and several other animals. As for the size of the cage the lynx was in it actually made me cry, the poor animal pacing backwards and forwards. The whole place looks run down and tired. I know the owners have done their best for the rescued bears and lions but there seems to have been more money spent on the tacky Xmas lights and children's play park than the animal enclosures. We only saw one member of staff the two hours we were there feeding rabbits. Sorry I will never be back as it just upset my daughter and myself. Obviously all the kids that were there just enjoyed seeing the animals and were excited but I can assure you there was nothing to get excited about!

A Great Day at the Zoo
Aug 2021 • Family
I really enjoyed my trip to the zoo. So much to see. Lots of animals but even the displays and play areas were imaginative and fun. Due to covid there are some things you still can't do, like talks and handling, but they are just trying to be safe. It could have done with more places to eat and buy drinks but again I think this will get better as restrictions ease. My 12 year old twins really enjoyed it and, although it was busy, you can find quieter places too. I would recommend it for everyone. It isn't over priced for food or souvenirs like lots of other places. You also don't have to pay for parking. A really good day out.

A huge disappointment
Aug 2021 • Family
This was, quite frankly the worst animal experience we have ever visited. Upon arrival we were greeted by a huge mound of rubbish and discarded chairs in a filthy overflow car park. We walked into something resembling a glorified portacabin festooned with fairy lights. The warning lights were flashing in our heads. Outside the so called welcome office was a pen for rabbits and a pen for Guinea pigs, both of which were on pure concrete with no grass or natural environment. The rest of the zoo was equally poor. Shabby enclosures, sad , listless animals and an overriding sense of decay. What an absolute shame. We paid for a family ticket at 40 odd pounds. I actually wanted to cry when we arrived and the feeling got worse as we went round. Would advise for the zoo to focus less on putting up plaques, and more on improving the environment for the animals and the visitors. A good clean and a.massive tidy up is also required, especiall nin these Covid tomes. Very sad indeed.
