Overview
More
Timespan is a cultural centre that contains a museum telling a story from the harbour to the hills. It has the only contemporary art gallery in the county which has six exhibitions a year which follow the organisations annual themes. The archive contains more than eleven thousand items donated by the local community and contains genealogy information of many of the local families. The River Cafe offers home baking and light lunches with some outdoor seating by the river enabling you to watch the wildlife close up. The gift shop has a wide variety from childrens' toys to local pottery.

My coeliac daughter and I were travelling fron John o’Groats to Edinburgh and thought it would be a good place to stop. Several notices advertise the place and it is in a picturesque spot overlooking the river. So far so good. The outside area is...More

Visited Timespan after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. Delighted to find an attraction that was completely dog friendly for both the museum and cafe as it is too hot to leave him in the car. Receptionist was really friendly and the museum is small but fascinating....More

Picked this place up from Rough Guide to Scotland - what a phenomenal place to visit beside the North Sea harbour of the ex fishing village and adjacent to the A9 - North coast 500 route. Walking through the open door to this ‘museum’ to...More

The theme of this place is interesting and it’s well pulled off. Worth paying to get into exhibition as it’s always good. A wee gem. Leaves a lasting impression.

I imagine that the most valuable parts of this museum is the bit you can't see - the archive collection. A sign boasts 000's of items yet this is a very small museum. A to of thought has gone into the presentation of the displays...More

This was stop off on our North Coast 500 trip. It is a very small centre but very interesting. It presented local history in a very informative way. The staff are very helpful and welcoming.

This local museum is so well conceived and put together. The history of the local village life and the herring industry has been captured in creative and realistic ways. We especially enjoyed the short film.

An interesting museum but not many exhibits. Gives you an insight into local history and the history of the area. Worth a visit.
