Visited in December and it was well worth the trip. A beautiful, unusual church steeped in history and spirit.

On reaching the town at this time of the year 28th September 2018, you realised that this was going to be a very busy time in the Calendar of Mont Sant' Angelo. We were warned of the hustlers around, who would be selling loads of...More

We visited the Sanctuary during a very busy and packed out Sunday mass. We joined a long queue and it took a while to reach the Sanctuary but it was well worth it. It’s a spectacular church hewn out of rock. Interesting gift shop. The...More

We visited this Sanctuary complex as part of a tour group of Irish people. The journey up the mountain to the sanctuary was incredible and awe inspiring. The mountain is 850 metres high and the road zig zags up to the sanctuary. We attended Mass...More

We were astounded by the cave church down below the structure that is above ground. It truly is spectacular to see. I was somewhat disappointed that it is forbidden to take photos or videos inside the cave church, but it's quite remarkable and the library/bookshop...More

Unless you are a pilgrim I wouldn’t bother visiting this place as it is packed out and you cannot get close to see anything. There are continuous services. A lot of worn marble steps to go down with a single 8 person lift to cope...More

Having read so much about this place, I was eager to see it. What a disappointment! Total tourist trap. The highlight were the beautiful worn marble steps leading down. It was so tacky, I’m afraid. (I know I’m a tourist myself but there was no...More

Smallish medieval mountain town based around a castle and a church. Amazing views over Puglia! Friendly people always willing to give you grappa after your meal. Narrow streets with lots of stairs.

This sanctuary is very beautiful and a great experience to be had. The chrurch itself is inside a cavelike structure and if you go on a Sunday you can witness a mass. It is a very beautiful sanctuary and experience.

The "must sees" are Matera and the trulli houses in Alberobello. If you get an opportunity to visit the Gargano peninsula, (Vieste), it is also a lovely place to visit.

I recommend also to take the coast road from Barletta, not the toll highway. This April, the road linking the main highway with Manfredonia was in repairs and in very, very bad state. To avoid!
