We went there for lunch had an excellent tasting experience before hand, the lady looking after us was knowledgeable able to provide good information was willing to go out of the way for example wanted to taste something she didn't have in the tasting room so she went to the restaurant and got a tasting glass full for me.
The restaurant was good, my wife had the Cesar Salad which she really enjoyed I had the unpronounceable Croatian Sausage which was also good. Service was friendly and altogether an enjoyable experience.
If you are in the area drop in if not for lunch a tasting we came away with 4 lovely bottles of wine.

My wife and I took a wine tasting tour provided by our cruise line. We visited 2 vineyards but the highlight was certainly our visit to Soljans Estate Winery. Our guide at the Winery was Tony Soljans. Incredibly informative. Humorous. It was very obvious he was proud of his Winery and his family. His grandson poured our tastings and explained the wines. Both my wife and I, who have been to innumerable wine tours and tastings, agreed this was the best.

Dear BigEaterSouthDakota,
We very much enjoy having Cruise ship groups visit is and have a winery tour and tasting. I believe it is our job to make all visitors to Soljans very welcome and that they go away having a positive experience in visiting us. We are very proud of our winery and our families history and love sharing this with all visitors. I like your final comment that this was the best, I might just use that comment, thank you.
Regards
Tony

Dear 26junes,
I read and take note of all reviews and it disappoints me when things do not go right. As I am the owner I take responsibility and apologise for the less than acceptable level of service you received at our venue. We have discussed this and from that have changed how we handle issues like yours so hopefully we do not have any repeats.
Regards
Tony

Soljans Estate Winery was the highlight of our port stop in Auckland from the Island Princess. Tony was a great guide, making it fun while learning many interesting facts. Tony beams with pride about his 5 generation family business, while introducing his more than capable grandson. Jason provided the different wines for tasting. All top quality wines. Hence the 5 star review. Thanks, Tony!

Very professional and helpful staff and modern feeling at the place. Also a nice variety of souvenirs and fun stuff to have in your bar at home. Many good wines with different prices so there's something for everyone.

Dear jaana444,
Thank you for your review and I particularly pleased with the points you highlighted. It is important that the staff are helpful because we appreciate you visiting us and want to make your visit enjoyable and educational. The gift shop is very popular along with the wine shop and having a wide selection of wines means we cover all tastes.
We look forward to you visiting us again in the near future.

Tony

Dear jandk514, Thank you for your 5 star review we do appreciate it. We do a lot of functions along the lines that you mentioned and having separate room options can be private as well which people appreciate. There is a art in managing functions like you mentioned and having friendly and obliging staff vital because they are all different depending on the occasion. We love the challenge however and love functions so having good reviews important. We look forward to your using our venue again.
Kind Regards
Tony

I regularly take my wine tour clients to Soljans for wine tasting, followed by lunch. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. The wines are excellent, plus they provide samples of their fantastic Tawny Port. The Bistro has a varied menu with fresh local produce and great coffee. Highly recommended!

From the warm welcome, to the informative tour, to the friendly tastings, this place is a winner!
The wines were delicious esp their port. Of course the SV was great also! They went out of their way to make our visit special. A fifth generation family operation - if you are in the area visit!

I have made many winery tours, however this is the first time That I have learned that they plant roses of various colors in front of the row of grapes to identify the wine it's used for. Great tour and great tasting

Dear buyersrmi,
I thank you very much for your review and am very pleased that you enjoyed the tour. We very much enjoy doing the tours and passing on some of the traditions in our industry which people would not normally think about. We have been making wine in New Zealand since 1932 and are the only winery to have the 5th generation now working in the family business so lots of stories to tell.
Thank you once again
Tony

Dear Kenneth H,
I was very pleased to read your comments. As we are only 20 minutes from Auckland city we get large numbers of cruise ship tourists visit the winery and cafe which is great. We are set up to handle individuals or groups and show them some good friendly New Zealand / Croatian hospitality. Great to get the feedback, thank you very much.

Can we go for a wine tour and tasting without prior booking? If yes, how much will it cost us?
Written 16 January 2020
Hi Marie,
the tour and tasting must be pre-booking and requires a minimum of 10 people. The cost of this is $12 per person :)
The tastings do not always require bookings when in smaller groups (say 2 or 3 people) and these are $6 per person :)
Please feel free to give us call if you want any more info!

Is there any transfers between Soljans Estate Winery and Auckland City Centre? If yes, how long does it take and how frequent is the coach. Thanks.
