Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated on the outskirts of Grandcamp Maisy It stands proud and a symbol for world peace. Unfortunately that is all it is, a symbol. After the terrors of both World Wars and now the invasion of Ukraine perhaps ever nation should have a National Peace Symbol which should be a reminder to us all that there are no winners in any wars, just victims.

It is a pretty cool statue with a small park.
If the sun is coming from the right direction you can take some stunning pictures.

If you are in the area go there.

Worth a stop if you are in the area. It is near many of the D-day landing beaches and close to Pointe du Hoc.

Very modern, not peaceful looking with sharp angles done by Chinese artist Yao Yuan?,,. I prefer the Memorial toFrank Peregory next to it as well as small Memorial to Len Lommell, it fits the History of the area much more than this statue....

I need to find out more about why this Chinese donated statue is here. Spent a good 10 minutes taking photos.

Saw this statue whilst driving along. Intrigued, so had to stop & investigate. Gardens are beautifully kept & statue is huge. I thought it was very beautiful but not sure it is in the best place. Only a little information.
Also visited the local cemetery with some interesting grave stones. Also the bells from the original church.

Amazing statue. If you do not like statues, maybe the flowers would be nice. Both make for really nice pictures on a sunny day.

The statue is really quite a striking sight, all chrome and shiny. It’s set on a prominent are of land just outside Grand Camp Maisie on the Normandy Coast.
If only it’s reason for being there was understood better and we could have peace everywhere.

This is a huge statue on the outskirts of Grandchamp-Maisy.
You can stop and have a picnic right by the statue and observe it while having a break.

This ginormous shiny statue (or “sculpture”) seems out of place and provides a discordant note in this small, fishing-oriented village near the historic beaches of Normandy.

We drove by it several times and it continued to be jarring to the eyes, perhaps what the Chinese artist who created wished.

On a D-Day tour, our guide said it was originally intended for Paris but was rejected by the Parisians and then gifted to Grandcamp-Maisy. It would have been more appropriate to a larger garden setting in a major city than this small memorial site in a rural town, surrounded by 1or 2 story residences.

Artistically, the flowing lines are interesting in the shiny metal, the setting is the issue.

Not worth a detour or stop, but have a nice look as you drive by.
