Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice location in the hills above Gibellina Nuova.
Very good exhibition about the links between the different cultures within the Mediterrean sea (Europe, Maghreb, Near East).
Included are elements of the theater festivals in the former town of Gibellina (now Crete di Burri) - indoor & outdoor elements.
The arrangement of the exhibition includes sound elements, so that the whole visit becomes a meditation.
Definitely worth a visit.

The Museo delle Trame museum here is open - see my review under that title. In our view it is an interesting cultural experience if you're in western Sicily and it's not far from the motorway.

Perfect place for experiencing the art, and nature of Sicily. Pleasure for the mind and senses.
It has to be experienced slowly, by immersing in the atmosphere.

In the heart of western Sicily the magic of one of the world best museums just 5 minutes away from the Feudo del Biviere, the wonderful country retreat where I spent my holiday

This little gem off the high between Mazara & Palermo off the Salemi exit is worth the 1 to 2 hrs view. The old Muslim art is such a contrast with the various contemporary art that one is awed with the quality of this place. Giulio the curator was such a gratious host and one can see the enthusiasm in his demeener.

We were unimpressed by Gibellini, a new town following a catastrophic earthquake in 1968. But in the hotel foyer was a flyer for this place and we were intrigued and thought we would visit before leaving. Well we were amazed - once we found it and that was a quest in itself - we were blown away. It is an individual's art collection, very eclectic with modern and ancient examples but all beautifully displayed over a number of buildings, We were the only people there at the time and once the person on the entrance got over his surprise of visitors he kept taking us to another building and display. This is a real gem which we were so happy that we had persevered to find.

This place, though hidden and a bit off the beaten track, deserves a seat in the top ten Sicilian cultural gems. Close to Segesta and Selinunte, it hosts a wonderful museum of contemporary art with pieces of Scialoja, Guttuso, Carlo Levi, Consagra and many more, as well as the "Museum of the Mediterranean Wefts", an ethnographic and archaeological collection of pottery, clothes, textiles, jewellery, and furniture that portrays a pan-Mediterranean culture beyond the Sicilian borders. I was here last year towards the end of June, when an art festival called "Orestiadi" takes place every year. I saw an outstanding performance by Pina Bausch company, something of exquisite taste and excellence.
This cultural project embodies the idea that there is no hiatus between past and present, and that even places dense of history like Sicily can host dynamic centres of new, pulsing artistic proposals. Extraordinary!

We visit the foundation thanks to Cantine Ermes, in reality we were in the area for the Cretto di Burri, not far away, it is an authentic and very pleasant discovery, I admit ignorance regarding the events of the earthquake and the history of Gibellina but thanks to the welcome I was able to appreciate this original experiment in art and urban planning. The foundation is spectacular but the whole area is also worth a visit.
