Visited this site while walking around Yanaka. It is a nice quite temple with a large Buddha statue just inside the entrance. It is close to Yanaka cemetery and worth a quick visit if in area.

This is a small temple which is worth going to if you are in the vicinity. You only need a short visit. There is a large Buddha in the grounds which is quite striking.

While not large, this is an easy little temple to get to from the nearby station and it's very peaceful and quiet in this area too so if you're tired of all the people, it's a good area to explore. Nearby is also Yanaka Ginza...More

Tennoji Temple wasn't in my plans; I just let the YaNeSen walk surprise me whatever I can find. Tennoji Temple is the first part of the YaNeSen walk, together with Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street and Yanaka Cemetery. Unlike Sensoji Temple in Asakusa that is full...More

Nice little temple, for the beginning of your Yanesen walking tour. You can see the bronze buddha statue the moment you enter. It was very quiet, no tourists (besides me!) & little locals too.

Short walk from Nippori Station to a lovely temple with a bronze Buddha statue. Was fortunate to visit during cherry blossoms. The temple borders the cemetery.

Equally nice to any other good temple, but it's in a quiet neighbourhood, it's not touristy, even locals didn't really show up there.

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
