A small but very beautiful temple. You can't miss this temple, with the lotus flowers growing in the Ueno Park, Shinobazu Pond in the foreground, and the temple in the foreground makes for a stunning picture. Walk across to the temple amd explore its beauty.

Depending on the time of day and, the activities on the local area, this temple can become very busy. It is however, a very beautiful temple with adjoining shrines. Out into a large lake, this impressive building is a stunningly beautiful focal point.

This is a very nice structure in Ueno Park. It is a smaller replica of many of the other temples we had already visited in the area with a lot less tourists. If I was a Buddhist, I’d stay away from the larger temples and...More

A small temple, it was bright and simple, but lovely to look around. It adds to the culture and special atmosphere to the park. Quite a few people around, but not too crowded, probably due to the festivals that were on at the time, drawing...More

This building really stands out among the shrines and temples of Tokyo. A number of shrines look quite similar, however the geometric shape of Shinobazuike Bentendo really makes a change.

Colorful temple in the center of the Ueno lake. Perfect for a little break away from the busy streets of Tokyo. There's a lot of food stands during the Sakura Blossom festival, but it also gets really crowded in that period. The paths leading to...More

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
