Also referred to as Cat Alley but without the cats, this neighborhood has a quaint atmosphere and bohemian culture that is different than the modern vibe you come to expect for Tokyo. There are lots of small boutique stores, a few brand name stores, and...More

I came by to see what is available but the place was closed down, despite it being during the opening hours as they appear on the official website. Very disappointing.

I booked a tea ceremony with Yanesen because it was close to where we were staying and the price was similar to others I had looked at. It was great! It was just me and my partner and a translator along with the wonderful woman...More

After doing a lot of sightseeing in Tokyo, my friend and I wanted to change things up a bit and partake in a traditional Japanese activity. We debated between a calligraphy class and Soba noodle making and opted for the cooking. We should have picked...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
