The Roppongi Hills Bon Odori takes place inside an arena built specifically for the festivities. Round, glowing lanterns are strung along the traditional wooden stage that women (wearing yukata) traverse doing the folk dance, Bon Odori. The dance welcomes the dead back to earth, warmly inviting ancestors to join in. The women lead the crowd in learning and performing it. The packed arena includes food stalls selling popular festival dishes like delicious fried takoyaki and fresh squid.
