I have to admit to being a fan of the Meiji era. This attraction was a "must" for me and did not disappoint.

The place is great tourist place. Very well kept and clean. We happened to see a typical Japanese wedding procession while we were there and all the guests were dressed in traditional garb. Once in a lifetime event for a tourist. Very interesting place to...More

The grounds were lovely and well maintained. The shrine was bigger than I imagined. The cleanliness is impressive.

Visited Tempura restaurant Hagoromo in Meiji Kinenkan. Meiji Kinenkan is a wedding place, built in 1990s, when the Japanese economy in its peak. You can tell that they spent a lot of money to make this place so upscale. There are other restaurants (Japanese, Chinese,...More

Was here for an official function. Great venue for entertainment, dining, outdoors, and official gathering. Like most places in Japan, impeccable standards and a grand heritage.

Went there with my teenage girl and she was amazed by the flourishing green nature, and the contrast having zigzagged between people outside Harajuku station literally two minutes before. After the ceremonial washing, we followed a wedding procession (there's always one starting/ongoing/finishing), bought a poem...More

Yotsuya / Iidabashi
Yotsuya and Iidabashi are areas that developed around
the outer moat of the Imperial palace. Nearby in
Kagurazaka, there is an old red-light district with a
photogenic feel evocative of the ambiance of old
Tokyo. Narrow paths with stone paving remain to this
day, and there are long-standing restaurants with
geishas and quaint old cafes in townhouse buildings.
