Neighbourhood: Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.

A massive display of current Toyota cars, with different exhibits which will keep visitors of all age engaged and entertained.
My 12 year old son really enjoyed the driving school which he gets to drive an electric car on an indoor lap. There were different levels and courses available. They also has a high speed e-Kart driving course but participants must be able to converse in Japanese to participate.
They also offer test drives on their 1.3 km enclosed course but you must have both your International Driver license and DL from home country to partake on this.
They also have a collection of vintage vehicles, including some Toyota and their rally cars back in the late 80's / early 90's in a separate building which you had to go through a connecting shopping mall to get to, which took a bit of time to find as there was no clear English signs.
Overall, this is a must-do for any car enthusiast and excellent way to spend a morning or afternoon on a rainy day!

We came to Venus fort because we were looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled across the history garage and later the Toyota mega web. Great area for car fans with amazing cars on show. My particular favourite was the Ferrari Dino, a classic in every sense of the word.

Lots of activities for the kids... The Toyota section felt like a glorified Toyota sales dealership
It could had provided more innovative cars...more explanation on the tech used or more concept cars
The kid driving experience is great thought be prepare for a long wait for your kid to be behind the wheel of a car.
The Ferris wheel is also good provides a scenic view of Tokyo

Family of 5 plan to visit Mega Web in April 2019. What is the cost to enter? I couldn’t find ticket prices in the web.

So, the main reason that we visited this place was for our son (7 years old) to drive one of the cars in the ride centre. Upon reaching the area, we were told that unless he could speak Japanese, he could not ride one of the cars. I looked over and saw that an instructor took the children around and told them when to turn, slow down and stop etc. The cars go very slowly and they are not racing anyone else. It would have been simple to employ some staff that speak English to ensure more children can ride. As it turns out our son could understand some Japanese and we speak basic Japanese, but still this was not enough. There were staff in other areas that spoke very good English, so I do not understand why they can't fix this issue as they get a lot of foreign tourists. We left with our son in tears as he had so been looking forward to this. Apart from that the rest was OK to look around, but not worth the trip from the city unless you are a real Toyota car lover and just want to look at the new models. Adults can test drive them with an appointment system and an international licence.

We were in the Odaiba area and saw the area about having your little kids learn to drive a car and taking it for a few practice laps on their indoor track. We arrived at 4:30PM, but all of the reservations were taken for the rest of the day. There are three tracks, including one for kids under 5 that is free and you just have to wait for...so my 5 year old got to drive the kiddie cars while my 7 year old couldn't do anything. As you can imagine, this went over not so well...so we promised him we would come back the next morning. We came the next morning on a Monday and there was already a 1.5 hour wait for him to do his 15 minute training. Once your child does the 15 minute training, they are given a temporary license and can drive on the test track. After they complete the real track, they are given a "real" license and they can go as many times as they wish for the 200 yen each time.
My son had a blast, and the workers there really seemed to enjoy kids and made the kids feel like special like they were real drivers. I can't remember being anywhere that the employees seemed to really like the kids like they did here. Major credit to Toyota for the people they have hired to do this. I also liked being able to watch my son on the TV provided in the waiting area via the dash mounted camera.
The only reason I didn't give the 5 stars though was because the reservation times are pretty hard to come by on a weekend unless you get in early which could lead to an unhappy youngster. I also didn't like how you couldn't drive the faster go-kart type cars unless you knew Japenese "because the instructions were in Japanese only." I don't speak a word of Japanese, but Hertz says I can take their cars and drive them all over Japan through crazy Tokyo and other cities on the wrong side of the road (from a US perspective), but I can't drive a little go-kart on an enclosed track because I don't speak Japanese? Maybe there is some reason I don't know about, but after driving through Tokyo I would think driving in the Indy 500 would be simple...and I don't understand why Toyota isn't allowing us to drive their go-karts because of a language barrier.

Although I had no interest in test driving a car, and the assistive device section was closed, my son had a blast "test driving" the toyota crash-safety simulator and a race car simulator. It was free and near other attractions-- the ferris wheel and joypolis-- so it was worth checking out if only for an hour or so. The monorail ride there and the architecture in the surrounding area made the trip worthwhile as well.

It's essentially a large showroom - all Toyota. There is a "ride" where you watch a film and the seats move on a jig. It's a good location for a rainy day (especially as there is a large mall next door)
I think BMW Welt over in Munich has significantly more stock especially in the adjacent Museum, but still worth a visit.
- the kids loved the driving simulators as well as just sitting in all the different cars
- we don't appear to get alot of the cars they sell in their domestic market :-(
- the portion where kids can drive was fully booked that day
- we took the Saikyo/Rinkai line direct from Shinjuku to Tokyo Teleport
- don't forget to explore the impressive historical collection situated a short walk away in the adjacent Venus Fort shopping mall
- and it is FREE to enter

The Mega Web is located in Odaiba and is a complex which contains some shopping and the Toyota City Showcase, which is a large 2-storey showroom for Toyota. In here you will find a multitude of Toyota models, some of which are sold in Japan only and not seen elsewhere. There was also a prototype of Toyota's hydrogen powered future car and a showcase of some of their racing models.
As mentioned by others you can test drive some of the models (if you have a valid international permit). Plus there is also a 3D theatre inside.
If you're a car enthusiast (and particularly like Japanese cars) then this place might be a must-visit. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to see the Mega Web as there are much more interesting places to visit in Tokyo.

Hi,
From my understanding the entrance fee is free but prices may vary for activities ... is this correct?
If so, what would be the average spend on activities at Mega Web?

Hi, I will be visiting from Australia in May and am wondering how far ahead you need to book a test drive? I'm sure my husband would like to do that but I won't know intended date of visit until a few days before so I'm just trying to work out if I should bother getting him an international license. If I have to book weeks in advance then I won't bother with the license & we'll just visit to look around. Has anyone managed to book a test drive at short notice? Thanks!

You been an international licence .... I believe maybe check out the Japanese super car association meets he may love driving those
Instead
I’d email and get onto it if they have car shows on it’s crazy
If he loves car check out the drift day races that is something else

The web mentioned that 'Attractions such as “FUN KART RIDE” and “RIDE STUDIO” can be open only for people understand Japanese. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.'
We are tourists and plan to visit in Dec. So, we dont understand Japanese. Can my 7 year old son go on the Fun Kart Ride & the rides in the Ride Studio?
Written 25 August 2015
While we attended this attraction, we did not participate in the kart ride or ride studio. I suspect that participation for non Japanese speaking individuals is limited for driver safety as instructions and signage is only in Japanese. However, maybe your son can participate in some of the 3D ride simulators (if there is no height restriction).
