Beautiful Basilica with ecumenical outreach events
Lovely Roman Catholic mass. The electronic signs announcing the dress code were a little distracting. The church is beautiful. There are festivals throughout the year which include non-Christian locals. Pray, take pictures before or after (not during) mass, then head to Adoremio across the square for lunch.

    Basilica with beautiful interior.
The Basilica of Candelaria was the first church in the Canaries dedicated to the Virgin Mary. A sacred relic is kept upstairs, above the altar - a wooden figure of the Black Madonna. The original statue was washed up into a cave where two shepherds used to put their livestock at the end of the day. It is a very interesting history and worth reading. The Virgin of Candelaria was officially declared Patroness of the Canary Islands in 1867 and canonically crowned in 1889. The Basilica itself is the work of architect Enrique Marrero Regalado and was built in 1959. Its central tower is 45 meters high and is decorated with a magnificent Canarian balcony.

A nice catholic church with much history worth reading about
Free to enter and a nice catholic church with much history worth reading about. Although founded in 1959, it's history and story dates back to hundreds of years before it was founded. The first shrine to the Virgin Mary on Tenerife (AKA a Marian shrine) and one of the main pilgrimage sanctuaries in Spain. Worth a visit if in the area. Free parking can be found around the area and under 10 minutes walk from the church.

This church in Candelaria is a gem by the ocean. The vibes are just beautiful. From stunning stained glass to the soothing sea views, it's a must-visit. Despite the no-photo rule, the place is a vibe. After checking out the church, we wandered the plaza and explored the town's shops and cafes. Super chill! Planning to return next year.

Well worth a visit to this town and to the basilica. Square in front of the basilica with statues and cave of the virgin Mary add to the experience.

Its rather a nice basilica, a bit hidden but yet a pure piece of worship. The ceiling is beautiful, the painting on the eastside is a bit over the top yet different an worth your trip.

Just sit down a bit and feel the energy in the church. It is relaxing. Walking along the path is also nice.
There are several fish restaurants where you can have lunch and dinner.
