Small church in Piazza Medicea, immediately left once you cross the Porta Medici. The eighteenth-century church is dedicated to the Holy Souls of purgatory but also known as the church of Suffrage or the Madonna del Carmine. At this time it acts as the mother church because the parish church was damaged by the earthquake of 2009; this church is in fact the only one that can be used among all the churches in the village. But even though it is the only one working, it is normally closed, except during the celebrations; having visited the village on a weekday morning, the church was therefore closed and I could see only the small facade with horizontal crowning, plastered except the upper part, added later to its original building, which is presented in exposed stone ashlars on which opens a small oculus with brick frame. On the façade there is a baroque portal with a broken tympanum: the reproduction of a skull with shins in the center of the lintel makes the dedication of the church immediately evident. Above the portal in 1919 a large scroll was added surrounded by several sculptural elements, including a winged victory, to commemorate the soldiers of the village who fell in the Great War; subsequently it was flanked by a smaller and simpler plaque to commemorate the fallen of the Second World War.
