Travel on the TIRRENIA Athara in theory from 14:45 until 20:15 (Piombino-Olbia route). The problems began even before boarding when the company (Moby, even if the ship was a Tyrrhenian) informs us that the ship was 2 hours late, but that you still had to show up at the same time for boarding. In fact, we show up at the appointed time and then do about 4 hours still in the car under the sun. Once up they park us in an area where access to the upper decks was for some reason closed. Once on board we are informed that the seats we paid for did not have a numbering and even some gentlemen who traveled on the bridge and did not have a ticket to the hall are suggested to go to the armchair room where "there is so much room" risking to take it away from those who had purchased the service. The seats were uncomfortable and the room (like most of the ship) was frozen! However, the ship leaves at 17:45 and already before 19 the announcements begin every 10/15 minutes to let them know that the various restaurant services were open. We go to the bar and buy two sandwiches and a stuffed focaccia, which are theoretically heated to us... theoretically because the focaccia was still literally frozen... I think the plate was not lit. In addition to this we also take a cake for the amount of 25 euros and a service made by staff who hardly respond to requests and clearly annoyed. Turning around the ship we noticed that all the services apart from the catering were closed: forget the cinema or the shop and as for the games room almost nothing worked (starting from the coin machine). At one point they announced that at 11:10 pm we would dock. Unfortunately, at that time we had barely seen the port. In the end we managed to disembark at midnight (considering also that we were lucky because we were among the first to get out. What about it? I travel almost every year with Moby or Tirrenia and every year known as this service get worse and worse. Unfortunately there are no alternatives if you want to bring your own car, but in all other cases I Recommendation the plane that at least is faster.

Bad experience!
The evening before departure I was informed that instead of docking in Porto Torres would be docked in Golfo Aranci (and that if I wanted to cancel I would be refunded the money of the ticket) lengthening my journey by over 100 km, I accepted, once in Genoa at 5 pm I was mentioned that there were problems and in addition to the change of port there would be a delay of a couple of hours, but that at 6 pm I should have been there by bnchina for any further changes around 7 pm they made us all move from one quay to another, but without news, only at 2 pm I managed to know that our ship had yet to arrive, after 11.30 pm it arrives and we managed to board at 00.30 treated like beasts by valets who shouted insults and swear at people forgetting that we pay the ticket also very expensive. Total reservice!! Horrible! Experience to forget!!!

The worst and most miserable ferry experience of our lives.

The Athara ship arrived 2 hours late, boarding took another 1.5 hours.

For the booked room we had to wait about 1 hour after boarding. Key distribution is pure chaos, the only man at the counter - totally overwhelmed.

Room - miserable. Butts and hair were still in the shower...

Staff - disgusting faces, arrogant, incompetent and totally stressed. Hardly any trial on the ship goes according to a plan.

The Athara ferry itself - a stinky dirt bowl that is not even properly cleaned. There's dirt in every corner. It stinks everywhere and is just rocked down.

Is simply a penal camp for the employees and customers.

NEVER MOBY AGAIN

Civitavecchia to Olbia.
Terrible service!!!, for a 210 euro cabin you would be better served flying direct from the mainland to Sardinia.
The staff are not interested in assisting you, escalators and elevators were out of service forcing passengers to carry large pieces of luggage up 4 floors, including elderly passengers.
Food is below sub-par.
Take my advice fly instead!!

Return trip from Sardinia, Porto Torres - Genoa with Moby Tommy.
I start from the end, basically I will no longer travel with Tirrenia / Moby, very dirty ship (from the floors to the bathrooms / shared toilets ), fortunately with the cabin at least the toilets were private but everything else absolutely negative. The ship arrived in port in Genoa an hour late, but this can fit if the sea conditions were not good; what is not acceptable is being forced to leave the cabin an hour early and stay in the garage by car for almost an hour before you can get off. We may have been unlucky for the location in the garage but it is clearly a matter of insufficient organization.
The outward journey had been practically perfect: early arrival, fairly clean cabin and common areas and excellent handling of embarkation and disembarkation operations (NGV though).
As mentioned at the beginning, I will avoid traveling with Tirrenia/Moby in the future, such a service is not acceptable against the cost of tickets. As for cleanliness instead is not acceptable regardless.

A pleasure trip that, at times, was not. Timely departure and accommodation in a good cabin, very kind staff but often absent in the controls, in fact the dogs comfortably did their needs along the ship's corridors and on decks, muzzles absent. The disembarkation took place on time and, perhaps given the small amount of cars and vehicles, in an orderly and fluid manner.

We took this overnight ferry from Olbia to Civitavecchia, to then drive to Fiumicino (FCO) airport.

I think the next time I travel this route, I will likely take the morning ferry that arrives early evening in Civitavecchia, then drive to FCO airport and stay at a hotel near the airport. The reason for this is that it was very difficult to sleep in one of the rooms I booked on the ship. It was a room with a window, bathroom and shower. As such, I landed in Civitavecchia very tired, then drove to FCO to catch a flight to north America. A very long -long day.

My recommendation is to take the ferry the morning before your flight back to North America, arrive in Civitavecchia, drive to FCO, stay in airport hotel, sleep comfortably. Wake up, have breakfast in hotel, walk or drive to hotel. Drop off car night before or morning of departure.

Naples-Palermo of 22/07/24, armchair room.
Bad experience:
1) very dirty toilets;
2) bar without price list, a screen behind the checkout displays for a few seconds some prices;
3) very low air conditioning temperature, at the reception they tell me that nothing can be done, it's almost, they scold me for not having a sweater or a jacket, perhaps forgetting that it's July.

We boarded at the port of Genoa at 7, the ship was supposed to leave at 9 but we left at 12 in the evening, poor service in the bathrooms as well as being shitted and pissed on, there wasn't even soap in the bathrooms considering that we were more than 1000 passengers, very high restaurant bar prices I advise you to bring some sandwiches because not even in German-speaking Switzerland do they keep these prices, inadequate, vulgar and provocative staff. I think the crew was full of prudish people. Ps I saw with my own eyes 👀 that on the ship without a wife there is no tobacconist, the guys in the crew sell cigarettes under the counter, and certainly other illegal things too
