Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Impressive fortifications now used to house civil services among them, the mayor's office.
The café-bar isn't there as the whole yard is covered in various building materials used for the reconstruction works. They're necessary so I can't fault them for that. I was disappointed that the way to the garden on the upper level was locked.

La Rocca is both a medieval fortress and the Town Hall. Moreover, at the very top there is a very romantic restaurant. Tables are set out in a little wood under the stars... very romantic indeed! it is definitely worth visiting once you are in Lugo.

Though it is not as interesting as other “roccas” all around Italy (like Dozza’s), it is worth visit once you are in Lugo.

With amazing views over the Piazza della Liberta, including a very large statue comemmorating Francesco Baracca, a WW1 air hero, La Rocca is both a medieval fortress and the Town Hall. It was also undergoing extensive restoration during 2012, making the walk up the ramp a bit less inviting after dark than it could have been. Hovever, the purpose of this review it to mention that at the very top there is probably the most romantic restaurant I have ever seen. Tables are set out in a a little wood, with winding pathways. There are inside tables too, but the outside tables, lighted by tea lights in paper bags, under the stars, are just fabulous. I don't think that anyone could complain about the food either!
Highly recommended to couples looking for somewhere to propose... whatever you might wish to propose!
Oh and the famous Lugo Market is just across the square, if you like a bargain.
