My first experience of concretions was at Rock City in North Central Kansas, U.S.A. Then I saw concretions on the other side of the world at Moeraki and Katiki Beaches on South Island, New Zealand. The Kouto Boulders are sandstone concretions, like the ones at...More

Visited on about half tide, should have been later as we had to clamber over slippery rocks. Boulders were quite impressive but not spectacular.Would recommend for a pleasant time filler and stroll on the Beach but do not expect too much.

Interested to see these boulders as we come from Otago, home of the Moeraki boulders. They are quite different but are similar in some ways too. Good stroll along the beach and great views.

These are just like the Mouraki boulders in the south island. Easy to access only 5 min down the beach from the car park. Visit 2 hours either side of low tide. Really awesome, well worth a visit.

Kids loved jumping on the boulders. Lots of fun. Spent at least two hours walking on the beach and boulder jumping. Must walk all the way to the end of the beach for the best boulders

Be warned, the mud is very cement-like in places, you want to wear your oldest shoes, and its a bit of a walk from the carpark!

Walk on the soft, white sandy beach, enjoying the gentle breeze and came to the 3 diameter large boulders. some are a bit smaller, but they all came together as a collection which would definitely make an awesome visual impact on the mind. They artworks...More

This was a riveting walk along the beach The boulders are surreal with the way nature has shaped the rocks into unique shapes.

It's definitely recommend to come here at low tide, but if your like us and passing through it's difficult to plan your trip around the tide. It had just been high tide and it was raining our feet got wet and a bit muddy but...More
