Catarata del Toro was a beautiful waterfall! It’s a bit off the beaten path but worth the drive if you appreciate waterfalls. I benchmark waterfalls against Iceland and this rivaled waterfalls we saw in Iceland. It’s the tallest waterfall in Costa Ruca and surrounded by beautiful colors from the old volcano crater. We continued on the mountain road after the waterfall and the road was extremely steep and harrowing at times and our breaks were really heating up so if I were to go again, I’d likely turn around and go back the same way I came.

Fantastic! The best place in Costa Rica to meditate or do Yoga in the nude. Gay friendly, beautiful place to propose to your boyfriend with the majestic waterfall in the background.

Absolutely my favorite falls in Costa Rica were the Blue Falls (locals call them the Gemelas/Twin Falls). The owner was very friendly and helpful. A true gem of Costa Rica! Definitely buy the pass to see BOTH Del Toro Falls and the Blue Falls.

You walk into the patio area and there was 100 hummingbirds! Then, you grab a walking stick and head out onto the path. It was raining when we were there and it made the experience even more amazing. The path down is so beautiful! Stop and enjoy your surroundings. The waterfall itself is breathtaking. We were there after a lot of heavy rain so it was roaring! It was spectacular. Lots of steps up on the way back! Be prepared! Great workout and a beautiful experience. Would do it again and again.

Our experience was great at the place. We got there before 9 am on a Saturday and only one car was there. The owner greeted us and asked what we wanted to do, we chose just a Catarara falls. Since everyone was talking about 375 stairs I expected such a long hike down, but it was relatively short. We used a stick for balance and it helped on tall and slippery stairs. The temperature was showing only 19C but it was very warm but skies were covered with clouds, so it was nice not to have a blazing sun. The waterfall is magnificent however I loved the garden (Jardin) so much more! It is heaven and a paradise. Absolutely quiet and peaceful. I would come back just for the garden with gorgeous flowers. And the you go thru the jungle into a bird feeder where bunch of humming birds are flying, it was cool to get videos. I am happy we went to this place!
