Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was good, enjoyed walking on the beach, white sand, sand dune, clear sky, see the sunset. The location is approx 10 km from the centre of small town, Foxton. It should be a safe beach, there is a Surf Rescue Patrol at certain schedule of the day, all good.

I had a lovely walk today with a friend on Foxton Beach. The tide had just tuned so the sea was within a short distance of the sand dunes. We sensibly walked southwards to get the sun on our backs from the entrance to the beach in Foxton to the estuary of the Manawatu and then back up into Foxton Beach town.

We visited the town which has some good second hand shops to peruse then found the flax museum where an elderly gentleman gave us a potted history of the flax industry and Foxton being the capital. Very interesting. The Dutch windmill is close by and worth a visit. You can go up inside for 2 dollar and on certain days they run it as it is a replica and active producing their own flour for purchase. They also have some old games to play which is fun. Then there is the main museum which has both the Dutch and early Māori history and an exhibition on the Dambusters when we went. All good.
The coastal walk has dunes and far end a reserve. The beach is very clean and good for swimming. However it does allow cars on it so beware of traffic. Far end is an estuary - good for waders and seabirds. You could walk as far as you want down the coast but we did a loop bringing us back to the car park near the start.

Great beach.
Safely swam between the flags. Great to see the DHL life guards doing such a great job.
Toilets available under the surf life saving club rooms with a couple.of outdoor showers to rinse off in.

Foxton Beach is good for a bathing and beach type holiday when the weather is warm. But when we visited in September the estuary and coastline was bleak. It is a good place for a day's drive or outing at this time of year but there is little to do outside when the weather is consistently adverse.

Soft grey sand stretching for miles north and south, huge logs dumped by stormy seas, other folk walking too, enjoying the fresh air and wind in this beautiful place. We often visit.
