Given the wealth of wonderful Baroque cathedrals boasted by Sicily, this is a somewhat downbeat experience. Commenced in the short Swabian period, the cathedral is built of black tufa, and is rather depressing. Didn’t visit the interior, because it was locked. On a Sunday. One...More

We were changing trains in the town and were just passing by. We had no opportunity to enter the church to see its frescos. The clock tower was having a good ding dong signal.

Randazzo has some lovely structures and this is one of them. The use of the lava rock is beautiful and has endured well over the years.

A pleasant surprise occurred when we tried the front door, found it locked, and walked away to read the signage nearby. The priest must have heard us, because he popped his head out of the door and opened it. We enjoyed seeing the church, which...More

In Piazza Santa Maria, he rises to the sky the basilica dedicated to Our Lady, an extraordinary model of religious architecture that is rooted far back in time, so as to be confused with the legend. The story goes, that the church of Santa Maria...More
