About
We are located in Ahipara, at the base of Ninety Mile Beach, just 10 minutes drive west of Kaitaia. We provide 1 and 2 hour treks along one of New Zealand’s most beautiful west coast beaches, and may include, where practical, gently rolling grasslands and the excitement of ocean riding. Our horses are very safe and suitable for all ages and experience levels. Treks for more experienced riders can be arranged - please contact us!

I like the idea of choosing my horse for the ride, and the ability to maneuver the reign of horse while following the troops. The guide was nice and she is allowing us to have our own control over the ride which makes it more enjoyable and memorable.

Excellent communication, including on the day when the weather might have derailed us. Very understanding with our slight change of plan. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself and Summer forwarded through the photos afterwards.

We had a lovely morning riding a long 90 Mile beach with Ebony our guide. Very safety conscious and very easy going horses. Recommended.

I loved this experience!

My guide ensured I was put on the right horse for my experience and riding confidence. Stormy the horse was amazingly calm, perfect for me!

Riding along the beach was picturesque and relaxing. Thank you for an epic hour of riding!

After talking to Sally on the phone to make an appointment for a 2 hour beach ride (she was super nice and easy going), we met up at their meadows where we were greeted by Valerie. She was our guide for the ride and also super nice and interesting to talk to. It was just my friend and me (both experienced riders) and we had a beautiful beach ride just us with the horses, which were super sweet and calm. We also got the chance to trot and canter and get close up to the water. After riding at different places in NZ this was our favorite and we would highly recommend to go for a ride here. Thanks for the lovely afternoon (and enjoy your time in this paradise Valerie) :)

Teenage daughter and myself did 2 hour ride. Such amazing value. We got to fast canter along the 90 mile beach which was awesome. Friendly staff and such a fun activity to do in northland.

Booked in for a two hour trek and had an amazing time. Lucky with the weather and I was the only one booked in with the guide so was able to up the pace to suit my riding experience. Guide was lovely and very relaxed. And the scenery, wow. We were the only ones on the beach for the first hour. Definitely something checked off my bucket list.

Our teenage charges aged 14-18 were of mixed abilities and some were nervous or had bad experiences with horses in the past.
They were catered for wonderfully and gained or regained confidence in horses.
The beach is a beautiful place to ride
The horses welfare is paramount and you can tell they are well cared for.
The horses all had individual characters and were matched perfectly to our riders.

We made booking for the 6.30pm, hoping to catch the sunset at the famed 90 miles beach. From the reviews, this was a highly rated experience and we arrived with much anticipation.

Upon arrival, we went through a needful safety briefing and they shared the rules with all. After reading our profile (riders' experience, age and weight), they have carefully nominated few horses for this one hour booking. They were patient to set up the saddle accordingly and they will also be happy to adjust our posture and saddle when they learned that the position was slightly uncomfortable. Once, we got up onto the horses, we were taught the basic actions needed to "ride" our horses such as stopping, turning and starting.

They will also take time to introduce the individual horses to us and their respective personalities. This was an important part of the preparations because the horses did exhibit such behaviours during the ride. Do not be concern, these are not dangerous but rather personality such as, certain horses may be more quiet on the road but may like to ride faster while on the beach. For another, they may get into a trot when they are on the beach (with this, we are to pull back the reins as if to stop them). Some of the horses will try to nimble some of the vegetation and we were taught how to steer them away. One of the nice gestures I learned was to pat the neck of the horses to acknowledge their good work and cooperation. The whole setup took almost an hour but they were most meticulous and patient to attend to us. They surely knew their horses very well. We began with much assurance though this was our first ever horse riding.

The ride to the beach was a good warm up and when you hit the beach, you would be captivated by the lovely views of beach, sea and sky. At sunset, the views were breath taking. We are not professional photographers but we have captured some postcard quality shots.

This warranted an "excellent" rating when the professionalism and passionate for horse riding was met with awesome views. Along the ride, we learnt much more about the area. There was no hurry. Indeed, these are moments which will remain with us for the rest of our lives. My 9 years old son called this one of the best things which have ever happened and I couldn't disagree at all. If you are heading to the northlands, please check out this lovely experience.

Specialy mention to the team who helped us - Sally-Ann and team. please keep up the great work.
