Chirk aqueduct is amazing in its own right but add the viaduct next to it and the 450m tunnel and it’s got more to offer than the more renowned Pontcysyllte aqueduct just down the way

Close by area to park car as passing through on a road trip. Well worth the stop and depending on which end you parked at there is a lovely long dark tunnel to walk through! A quick pitstop 20 min gem of a place

Enjoyed our walk here with both the aqua duct and the rail viaduct. Easy walk across the aqua duct. Had a look inside the tunnel the boats come through before or after the aqua duct.

This place is always stunning, it was a bit breezy so added to the fun. Always great and the tunnel is another attraction.

This aqueduct connects between England and Wales. It is really cool to walk across it. The views are amazing. There is a tunnel at the end that you can walk through also. Parking down the block was free and easy.

Beautiful aqueduct side by side with a viaduct. One end was in England and the other in Wales. The flow of water was faster than anticipated and small trout were visible trying to swim upstream. At the Welsh side was the picturesque Chirk tunnel. Lovely...More

We had an evening walk along the towpath of the canal aqueduct. It was very pleasant and peaceful and like thousands of others we were impressed with another example of Thomas Telford`s civil engineering works.

Walk across the aqueduct the view is amazing. A barge might cross and you can walk along and talk to the occupants before they disappear into the tunnel under the road. A train might even cross the rail bridge. Walk along to the pub for...More

You can park in Chirk itself and walk to the aqueduct, its not far. Both aqueducts are spectacular and are both worth visiting, I prefer Chirk because of the railway viaduct running parallel and slightly higher than the canal
