Only 20 minutes from Valladolid is the town of Peñafiel with its Castle on a small hill. The view of the town and its surroundings is spectacular, especially the view of the vineyards bathed by the famous Duero River, one of the most important Spain's...More

Peñafiel is a nice little village with a beautiful middle age castle on the top. It is well maintained and it also encloses the local wine museum sponsored by Protos, the famous local wine producer. The castle is quite small and the tour will last...More

Looks better from a distance, and the tour isn't worth paying for, especially as it is only available in Spanish. We didn't bother with the wine museum, having booked to visit several bodegas whilst in the area.

When arriving on the main road in Penafiel, you already will see the castle on top of the Hill, never mind the road until the castle is very good and you have a free parking right at the castle. The visit is done only with...More

The castle appears nice, however all history, direction and tales were done only in Spanish. I understand that I was in Spain, but to stand for 3-5 minutes not understanding explanations about the castle and its content was a waste of time. If you don't...More

A little bit of Culture and History after lunch and winery visit. Beautiful views and entire village can be seen from the Castle. An interesting Wine Museum can be visited as well.
