We did this boat ride on our rest day from hiking The Kumano Kodo. We had a reservation for the 10 AM boat. We took the public bus there and were greeted by staff as we exited the bus. The check in process was efficient...More

We booked the 10am boatride. When we reached the bus stop, guide Tomoko was there to greet us and another couple. We were escorted to the visitor center (it has moved in 2018, so heads up if you have old brochures). Checked in, issued life...More

The Kumano River Boat Tour was not quite as nice as I had expected. Our guide, although lovely, did not speak any English, and unfortunately I speak no Japanese. And even though they do provide you with a sheet with some basic information in English,...More

This is a open air canoe boat ride down the Kumanogawa -- very nice thing to do. The surroundings are pleasant and green and the water is just so clean. Along the way, the english speaking guides give you a pretty decent background on the...More

The view and the scenery on the boat trip was fabulous. We were delighted to be able to get two seats at the last minute - we literally showed up at the bus stop where they meet their clients and managed to squeeze on board....More

Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. There were only four of us on the tour which made it more fun. Our guide, Tamaki (?) was very knowledgeable and did a great job narrating in English for us. We especially loved her flute playing. It was quite a...More

A wonderful way to spend two hours, cruising up the Kumano river into the pristine Dorokyo Gorge. The river cruise will rival the Franklin River cruise in Tasmania, as we speed up the crystal clear waters into Dorokyo Gorge, with its magnificent rock formations
