A must at Iya Valley. We went there after a walk in the morning. Water of the onsen is full of small bubbles and you feel silky smooth after the bath. We got to take a small cable car to go down the valley and...More

The Iya Onsen is a wonderful place to stay. It is perched high above the valley but has a cable car running from the hotel to the valley floor with outdoor hot baths for women and men next to the clear mountain stream. The trip...More

Japanese ryokan are not so popular among foreign tourists - they are outrageously exensive and not too comfortable - but they offer outstanding food and access to onsen (Japanese style hotsprings). This is why we decided to go for two ryokans in Iya valley and...More

Sometimes you just feel that you hit the jackpot in your search for hidden treasures! Iya Onsen is one of them. I really recommend to book the room with open air bath. Then it's just you, the bathtub/shower and nature. A fantastic experience. The food...More

The room is spacious and well decorated. An electronic massage chair is available inside the room. The bath is facing the mountains and forest. The outdoor spring bath beside the river is fantastic. You have to take a short "mountain tram" ride...More
