I went here early winter so the scenery was pretty stark. Nevertheless, there was a certain tranquility/zen like atmosphere of the landscaped garden.

This Japanese garden has some unique features worth visiting. However I would not go out of your way to visit specifically. If you're visiting the castle add the garden on and have a nice stroll. Look for signs that say Genkyuen. It's not hard.
