Aussie visiting with my Japanese family, my brother-in-law drove a hire car to this Park and Memorial and parked in the nearby parking area. We visited during a lull in a typhoon and managed to get some moments without rain, while we walked around the...More

The day we were there, it was pouring down rain. As soon as we got out of our cars, a little van drove up and the driver offered us a tour of the monuments in the cemetery for a very low fee for a van-full...More

This is a wonderfu place with very well done exhibits about Okinawa, before during and after WW2. It is a poignant and timely reminder of the horrors of war and why it is important to never trust old men who want to send other peoples...More

The exhibits at this museum are very well done and this is an absolute must if you are in Okinawa. The museum, park and cliffs are thought provoking and memorable as our most productive and insightful learning experience in Japan.

We were staying in Onna Son and drove South to check it out. Plenty to see and a lot of interactive media etc to try to grasp what went on in the war. Very provocative. There is a souvenir shop and a number of vending...More

A solemn reminder of the bloodiest battle of the Pacific in World War II. The expansive parks hosts several historical sites but Peace Prayer Park is the must see. Walking on this hallowed ground humbles even the proudest of men and women. Hard to describe...More

A very detailed and graphical presentation of the Second World War as experienced by the island of Okinawa. It's a story not many people are aware of but should know about. The modern museum also has an educational "kids corner", a small souvenir store and...More

This is a must see when visiting Okinawa. The park is amazingly moving and tranquil. If you going to venture into the museum, allow several hours for your visit. The museum contains many graphic photos. Be prepared, the Okinawan people truly suffered during the war.

This memorial is located high on a cliff resulting in a beautiful setting. The grounds are well kept, also very pretty. I was impressed with all the names of those who died in the battles being displayed on the standup tablets on the grounds. They...More

The Peace Memorial is told heavily from the Okinawans point of view. Since the majority of lives lost on the island during the battle for Okinawa were local civilians, that is understandable. There are many artifacts, displays, photos to spend a couple of moving hours...More
