We just loved this park. We were there for the full bloom of the cherry blossoms, and it was just glorious. It's bigger than it seems, with lots of beautiful paths lined with cherry blossoms. I'd imagine it's a lovely park in Summer and Autumn,...More

We arrived quite late at Yamagata, but fortunately this park was illuminated during sakura season and location is within walking distance from Yamagata Station. It was our first sakura experience, since we missed it in Tokyo, and even in Sendai. But glad we made it...More

It’s a short train ride from Yamadera to Yamagata. As the train approaches Yamagata, it passes by the Kajo Park and we got our first glimpse of what was to be a splendid array of sakura along the moat. It’s a short, 10 minute walk...More

About 7 minutes walk from Yamagata station. There is not a huge castle but a greenly park. I saw a lot of people who jog and walk. Unfortunately I didn't enter a museum cause I didn't have much time. It seemed to be interesting.

Kajo park features "Yamagata Castle" which isn't a castle but the remaining and restored outer walls, Yamagata Kyodokan, a baseball pitch and an abundance of Sakura trees and is surrounded by a mote. It would be absolutely breathtaking during spring. It is perfect for those...More
