I took one of the last remaining ‘Genuine’ Mail Boats left in the world, still delivering mail and groceries as it has been for almost a century. The highlight was visiting a sheep farm nestled in a quiet secluded bay. What a lovely family!
5 friends who get together for the Havelock Muscle festival, booked to go on the mail boat on the Monday what a fantastic time we had , the day was perfect clear and sunny so we were able to sit upstairs, but comfortable seating for...More
Had the best day out on the boat on 19 March 2018. Jim and staff were so welcoming, fun and you got the impression that love what they do. Thank you for a fantastic day: interesting and knowledgeable commentary on areas. First taste of mussels...More
I had a great time last weekend when I went out on the Sunday cruise with the Pelorus Mail Boat, operating from Havelock in New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island. (Havelock is roughly midway between Blenheim and Nelson.) The cruise...More
The Thursday Mail Boat cruise was exceptional. We boarded in decidedly inclement weather and although it didn't really clear, it didn't spoil our experience. The boat is relatively new and it shows. Very clean and obviously well cared for by Jim the Skipper and Mindy...More
We had a fabulous time on the mailboat, it was wonderful to see the scenery and also to see what life was like on the farms . The skipper and guide were very knowledgeable and very helpful indeed. The best bit was seeing a pod...More
It was our last full day in NZ and were booked this cruise the last minute. Great decision and great experience! You spend pretty much all day on the water, exploring the sounds (10 am till after 4 pm) and seeing all the small inlets,...More
The Mail Boat cruise was one of the Top 5 experiences I've had in New Zealand in four month-long visits. The scenery was beautiful, the boat was relaxing, the commentary was helpful, and the farm visit was fascinating. We had extra deliveries to make, so...More
We are a couple who live fairly locally and thought it would be just a nice day out. Well it absolutely knocked our socks off! From the funny informative banter of Bindi about the locals and their stories to the unexpectedly delightful appearance of orcas...More

We really wanted to see the difference in sea level that happens at French Pass. We tried 2 years ago driving along the gravel road for miles and miles. We aren't very good with heights and some of the nz roads. We chickened out towards the end when it was in the far distance and so we missed it. This will probably be our last trip out here and a boat trip would have been good. However, if there is not an organised one it would be far too expensive for us to consider. Thank you so much for replying. Liz
