I have been looking forward to this trip for some years but it was only last week I was in Havelock on a day the mail boat ran. What a fascinating introduction to this reclusive lifestyle! The two "posties" were so enthusiastic and regaled us with fascinating information and stories throughout the day. It is a long day and a... More

As one of the very isolated places that Jim visits on this mail run, I can not speak highly enough of the service he provides. He is happy to drop off groceries for free, and Bindy gives our dog and goat each a biscuit that they both look forward too! During the non summer months the friendly folks on the... More

We joined the Friday seven hour cruise and were lucky to have beautiful weather . The scenery was stunning and the captain Jim and Bindy were both very friendly and informative . I would suggest taking a picnic as we did , only tea, coffee and biscuits offered on board . An amazing day a must when visiting the Marlborough... More

The Mail Boat run is a must. I recommend the full day experience as you will see some of New Zealand's best scenery and meet some interesting people. On a day like the one we recently experienced it was stunning. The Marlborough Sounds are beautiful and Pelorus sound has a lot to explore. This is a working mail boat that... More

We went on the Friday trip which lasted all day, it was a super time Jim and Bindy were very friendly and knowledgable and full of information. We saw blue penguins, bottle nosed dolphins which swam under the boat and along side us. Luckily the weather was fine warm and sunny. It was very interesting seeing the Mail being delivered... More

The perfect way to see the the Sound and the weather was glorious, which always helps! Skipper Jim and first mate Bindy are both informative and attentive and make the day a really enjoyable one. Educational too - learning about the people who live on the Sound makes this much more than just a cruise on the water.

Fantastic day out into the Sounds with Jim and Brady. Although we had fog when we set off we were assured by Jim that it would clear and it did. Calm seas and sun...perfect. We were on the Thursday run visiting the mail drop offs. Stopping at a mussel farm to see how the museum are farmed. We also went... More

We cruised thru the Pelorus Sound with Captain Jim and his excellent first mate Bindy on their mail route through the Islands of Marlborough Sound. What a glorious day! Not only did we see Blue Penguins, bottle-nosed dolphins, stingrays, and Royal Spoonbills but we also learned the wonderfully entertaining local history and back- stories of the area and resident who... Did the Thursday run when in NZ last year, followed up with the Friday run to the Outer Sounds recently. Excellent day out again - wonderful scenery, interesting stops to deliver/collect the mail, good info from crew Ben and Bindy (Jim was minding the shop in Havelock on the day). The weather was great, which is probably the big factor... More
