Loved the trail. Due to the dry weather...not much of a waterfall! Make sure to take your camera....great shots! October is a good time of year to see this, not crowed at all!

I hiked this trail many years ago, but saw it from a different perspective whilst volunteering last spring. this trail is paved in the beginning, but don't be fooled. Once the 600 steep, slippery, narrow at times, unforgiving granite steps start, you'll be glad you...More

This trail was busy but worth the effort because of the waterfalls. The steps to the first falls were dry so we felt fortunate for good footing because it was at least moderately strenuous

We spent full day at Yosemite park. The Mist Trail was one of the points of our journey. Very interesting place, the views are amazing as whole park. Information on the top level.

Depends on your hiking experience. I d rate it as easy but i can see why it is marked as moderate. It starts flat and then climbs quite a lot. The last part is slippery. If you want to reach the top you will have...More

Amazing views, lots of steps-well worth the effort! Go early as it gets crowded & harder to navigate

this is a very steep trail , mostly on granite steps and inclines - not easy on the knees and slippery when wet - especially in the spring. Well worth the effort if you go early and off season.

Steep but beautiful walk to see the falls - it was popular and quite busy (with even teenagers stopping to catch their breath!) The start/end of the trail is by a free shuttle bus stop and some toilets, so convenient location.

We really enjoyed hiking the Mist Trail during a break in the cloud when the snow storms hit in May. We got the full experience - roaring waterfalls that completely drenched us and beautiful waterfall rainbows. We even picked up a few blisters along the...More

We have never been to Yosemite and researched a lot of hikes. This was one that was only 8.5 miles round trip. It was a strenuous hike going up to Nevada Falls. We came down the John Muir Trail because of it being less strenuous....More

Is it currently open? I’d heard it was closed. If so, is it dangerous going back down Mist?

Hi The Yosemite forum is very active. Questions are answered the same day. This Q&A feature has few readers. In spring, getting on the first shuttle of the day is usually a good idea. If you prefer an earlier... More
