The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl (Nahuatl for "made-by-hand mountain"), is a huge complex located in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. It is the largest archaeological site of a pyramid (temple) in the New World, as well as the largest pyramid known to exist...More

There aren't many places in the world where you can go inside a pyramid - but this is one of them! From the outside, you wouldn't know anything lies under it. Grass, trees and a giant church cover the physical structure. However, once you get...More

A Church constructed at the top of a hill, is what must of us think when we see it for the first time, but inside hides the largest archaeological site of a pyramid (temple) in the New World, as well as the largest pyramid known...More

This is the largest pyramid in the world when measured in volume. It was the major temple for the people of the central plateaus of Mexico before the conquest, and it still symbolizes much for the inhabitants of Cholula. You can walk inside in tunnels,...More

From most pyramids that I have been to, I feel I've seen bigger and greater. I would say this is an average pyramid that's buried in grass. Lovely views from the top.

I took the Viator Tour to Cholula and Puebla. We had plenty of time to go through one of the tunnels as well as climb to the top and see the church. Puebla was a beautiful city and we explored the historic center and market.

The pyramid site and museum are really interesting, and the views from the church at the top of the pyramid are spectacular. (If you're lucky, you'll see Popocatépetl, the nearby volcano, letting off steam.) I have to take off points, though, for the lack of...More

From a distance, Pirámide Tepanapa just looked like a grass covered hill and I second guessed it’s claim as the world’s largest pyramid by volume. Upon closer look, you can make out what was once a pyramidal structure seeing the remains of Patio de los...More
