We'd visited Alaska three years ago and loved it so much we were considering going back. Vacationing in Alaska is nothing short of expensive so we weren't sure if we wanted to dish out the money to do it again. During our indecision, I was...More
We only saw Bear Glacier from a distance while on a sightseeing boat trip. It is quite close to Seward, our departure point. Even from a distance, it was still a beautiful sight, winding down to Resurrection Bay. I hope to return to kayak there...More

First I highly recommend kayaking Bear glacier lake , the experience is unbelievable , but the location is not that easy to get to. You cannot hike there. We did look into taking a boat there, there is one company that does a boat but it is tide dependent and they don't have kayaks at the lake like John does. When I called to try and make a boat reservation it didn't actually work so helicoptering in became the only option. It was a beautiful flight and the pilot gave us a great scenic tour on the way in and out- I did not regret any of it or one penny spent. I too was struggling with several helicopter and flight plane tours. Don't miss this one, few people find this place !
