We took the ferry from Battery Park to Liberty Island and then on to Ellis Island. We watched the 30 minute film which was a great introduction to the Immigration museum but we then found there was rather too much reading to keep our interest...More

Lots to see and do in this museum, but we went mainly to see the names of our ancestors on the wall -which was amazing. We’d found some family through ancestry dna and this was all very special for us. There’s helpful staff and lots...More

Great history displays. Informative park rangers. Very well done. Lots of reading. You can view videos also. My Dad and his family came through Ellis Island. The family had purchased a spot on the Wall of Honor. Found their names, took pics, rubbed the name...More

Go here and soak in the incredible history which affected so many Americans in so many ways. I would strongly recommend the free video offering "Island of Hope; Island of Tears" - excellent documentary featuring film of Ellis Island in it's heyday. Go to the...More

Ellis Island Museum was of interest to me as I had two Grandfathers who went through Ellis Island. My only disappointment was that they could provide me with any further information on where they went or what they did...a bit disappointing. I would recommend they...More

I honestly don’t know how this place got such good reviews. There was so much reading I think you could stay for 2 weeks and not have everything read. I think they really missed the ball with setting this museum up. You are literally walking...More

We went there mid-week as part of a paid tour. It was not crowded and offered a great look into the history of our immigration. There are some great showcases and exhibits on the third floor. Do yourself a favor and take the optional the...More

Experiencing Ellis Island was sincerely moving. Walking the grounds and visiting the main immigration hall was inspirational and made me deeply contemplative. Lots of video to watch and many things to read in order to grasp the significance of Ellis Island.

Ellus Island should be manditory for any immigrant or relative of an immigrant. It was our first time here, even though we've been to NYC many times. On top of the renovated building, it was a beautiful day for a ferry ride

Hi. Sorry, I don't do the Hard Hat Tour. I didn't have time. I just did the audio tour of the main immigration areas of Ellis Island. The new museum at Liberty Island was good - no lines to skip as it's just an open space... More
