The ferry is huge so even if you see many people... You will have a place on it. You get a chance to see the Statue from a distance. When you get on, go upstairs and outside for better views and pictures. There's a schedule...More

Best thing is it's FREE. Nice ferry ride. Not much to do at Staten Island, but we went over, had lunch, and came back, good view of the Statue of Liberty on the way.

As someone who used to pay a fortune for touristy cruises around Lower Manhattan, the Staten Island Ferry is all you need for $0. The new shopping mall and of course Staten Island itself is great to explore. Love riding the Ferry.

If you want to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Governor’s Island, Brooklynn Bridge, etc. then take the Stanton Island Ferry. It will give you all of this for free and it’s a fun and free way to travel.

Very busy at 11am but still got a space with a view. Can't beleive it's free to ride. Please note you have to get off, you cannot stay on for the ride back (just walk round through the waiting room though).

In order to get unrestricted views, you should try and be on the top deck or by the side of the ferry.
