Five years after first discovering the Meatpacking District (MPD) in Manhattan I decided to stay there again on my recent trip. And, after spending the entire week biking through many different NYC neighborhoods, I will still choose the MPD as my base the next time...More

This area, near the High Line, has been totally transformed. In another era it was quite dangerous, then just funky. Now it is loaded with expensive shops and restaurants. Crazy.

We spent a week in New York to celebrate the wifes birthday. Half of our time we stayed in Tribeca and the rest in mid-town. I hadn't been to the area for about 20 years but was fascinated by all the regeneration stories I had...More

Not what it used to be. Back in the day this was a dangerous part of town with grungy bars and sex clubs. Now it is full of Prada and the like. My how things have changed.

Loved this district. The High Line, graffiti art, super cool shops and all the fabulous buildings which just ooze history and stories. Well worth visiting. Do The High Line and then wander around the streets to get a feel for the vibe. It’s super cool...More

The history of this neighborhood still lingers as you walk the streets. The building facades, brick roads, high line and roof top views are all reminiscent of days gone by. That being said, there's no lack of hot, hip and happening things to do and...More

This neighborhood used to be much rougher, but thanks to the Highline being built there a few years ago, it is now like a brand new place. Quaint with plenty of cool and trendy restaurants, love that area.

This area has come up a lot. There were people walking around. Many upscale shops. A lot of bars and restaurants too. Worth an hour of your time.

From the high line to the loss of the slaughter houses/processing plants a massive transformation. Very trendy. No longer a place that you take your life in to your hands at night driving through, let alone walking. Lots of places to eat and shop, a...More

This is a place with a mix of old and the new. The clubs and restaurants here are really nice with each with its own theme. The best part is the people here who are in my opinion absolutely so chic and fashionable. Good place...More

I love this area as a home base for exploring the city! Many types of accommodations available from awesome hotels to air b&b's to smalll city inns. The Highline is close by and a great way to experience nearby neighborhoods.

Use mass transit. It can be awful to walk in the hot summer all those city blocks. You can rent a bicycle.
