This is a great place to go for walks and bike rides. Not sure whether it would be so good for cycling in the summer as it may be busy, but it was perfect for us in early October.

Somewhat away from the hustle and bustle of the City, the Esplanade and walkway along the Charles River, is a great place for a walk or jog or cycle. There are many opportunities to admire the skyline of Boston and Cambridge. Much of the path...More

I am a bit of a nervous biker, yet I dd great with a very crowded Esplanade! My friend took me from Cambridge down to the river and we rode down then back up the Esplanade for a few miles. It was so great to...More

Spent a couple of hours strolling here on a recent evening. There are beautiful vistas of Boston, Cambridge (especially MIT) and the river with its boats, crew shells, and kayaks. Benches abound and there are many shady areas. There are a limited number of public...More

The Esplanade is so very interesting. We did our first half walk the other day, maybe two miles or so. It is great. The evening before we went to the Night Shift Beer Garden, sat with those couple of hundred people, and watched the other...More

A very scenic path along the river. Multiple walk bridges to get over to the path from downtown. I stayed at the Marriott and was an easy jog (about a mile) and then jogged another 4 or so. Busy path but everyone was friendly and...More

Beautiful area for a jog or a bike ride any time of the year. I would recommend going during the spring and summer to see the trees in bloom. Starting at the MGH footbridge entrance next to the Longfellow and following it to the Mass...More

This bike ride was an excellent compliment to the trail in Cambridge on the other side of the river. There are several bridges across the river (with separate bike lanes) which allow one to ride on both sides of the river in a loop. I...More

Nice for a stroll or a good workout on the Boston side of the Charles. Good views of Cambridge and easy access to the busy Boston shopping and attractions.

Bostonians take the Fourth of July serious and have been known to show up as early as 4:00 a.m. since they banned overnight camping. I believe the City now attempts to regulate this at 6:00 a.m. There is limited space and... More
